Office Supplies

Our Creative Corner challenge this week from Kim Price is to use Office Supplies on our creation, along with lots of the colour red!  Yes, office supplies, as in staples, post-it notes, string, sticky tape…. you get the idea.

So I went searching to see what I could find that would fit in with those criteria.  My card is inspired by Deb Fearns, a fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and friend from when I was living in Canberra.  Deb has used some of the doilies from the Flirtatious Specialty papers, cut them and coloured them to look like cogs.  I just wanted mine to look a bit like a wheel, but I love this clever idea for using up some retiring bits and pieces.  I have also used the retiring Well Worn DSP, which are fantastic for male cards.
The stamp set is The Open Sea, which becomes available again on the 1st Sept (Yay… love this set!), and I have used string, staples and a clip as my office supplies.

I do hope you will play along with us this week, this challenge is so much fun.  And have a look to see what the rest of the fabulous Design Team have created for some inspiration.
Happy stamping!

Wedding Stationery

Just a quick post tonight, some of you will have noticed a new button on my blog for Special Occasions, and it is so that I can share my Wedding and Special Occasions designs with you.
I’ll be sharing more of these as the samples are finished, and I’ll also have them in an album to take to markets so that you can see them in real life.

I’ll be back with some stamping tomorrow.

iPhone Covers

Today I am going to share with you my iPhone!
I have bought a clear silicone cover for my phone and then made an insert to go inside it.  This one uses the new Betsy’s Blossom stamp set and some of the the new In Colours, which you can order on the 1st Sept.  I plan to make a few different ones of these so that I can change them whenever I want a different look.

That’s it for today, hope you are having a crafty weekend.
Happy Stamping!

Our Creative Corner – Dressed in Denim!

This week’s challenge at Our Creative Corner is a Dressed in Denim Recipe Challenge from Paula.  Here is what she says:

Paula here again….I’m an Arkansan.  We wear jeans all the time… work, church, play, even weddings. You name it, we can make the denim work.  So dress it up or dress it down but use 3 ribbons or twine, 3 buttons or brads, and some denim (either real or faux via printed paper or a technique) on a project.

Great challenge, Paula! 🙂

My card uses, as promised, a sneak peek at some goodies from the new catalogue (rubbing hands together). Along with some denim, I have used the gorgeous Comfort Cafe DSP, which has been cut using the Scallop Squares Duo die.  The greeting uses the new Bitty Banners Framelits die, also available on the 1st Sept. Oh and those yummy buttons are also new, Naturals Designer Buttons which have a lovely wood look to them, and they are threaded with some Early Espresso Baker’s Twine.

The denim fabric in this project (which is from an old pair of jeans belonging to my son -shhhhh!) has been adhered to some card stock using the Multipurpose adhesive sheet, before running it through the Big Shot.  This helps to keep the fabric in shape and also stops in from fraying so easily.

Make sure you check out what the rest of the Design Team have made for this challenge.

Hope you will join us with this week’s challenge.
Happy stamping!

Triple Time Card

There have been heaps of these cards popping up in the crafting world of late, and I just had to have a go!  They are really easy to make and so very effective.

This one is made with some colours that I don’t use very often, but thought it was time for something different, something a bit summery, especially since it is such a lovely day here today in Adelaide.  22 degrees, sunny and gorgeous!  Time for a walk on the beach. 🙂
I have used the colour combination of Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight and Real Red, along with the Mixed Bunch stamp set.

Pretty sure I will be making some more of these cards.

Happy stamping!

“Stamp of the Month” Club

Did you ever buy a stamp set that you just loved, but then once you got it home you didn’t know what to make with it?
“Stamp of the Month” Club is about giving you ideas, inspiration and projects that will help you make the most of the stamp sets you buy.

How does it work?
Every month I will choose a stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! catalogue (either current Annual catalogue, or current mini catalogue), but I am open to suggestions 🙂
You will purchase the stamp set plus 2 lots of embellishments.  I will send you your stamp set, the full packs of your embellishments and instructions for at least three projects to make using them.  You might just get a small gift from me as well 🙂
You can take part in “Stamp of the Month” Club from anywhere in Australia.
I will also post on my blog, a variety of samples and ideas using the stamp of the month set, throughout the month, to give you even more ideas that you can use!

Cost for each month will vary according to which stamp set and embellishments we are using, however I will be trying to keep the cost to below $50 per month.  I will also allow for “by the metre” ribbon costs, rather than expecting you to buy the entire roll of ribbon.

Stamp sets will be clear mount, however if you really prefer the wood mount version, then please contact me and we will work out a deal.  Keep in mind that they do cost more for me to send to you.

If you already have the stamp set that I have chosen for that month, but would still like to take part in the club, again, just contact me and we can work out an alternative stamp set for you to buy at an equivalent price.

In celebration of the new Annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue, being released on the 1st of September, the first stamp set we will be using, for the month of September, will be Betsy’s Blossom.  It is not available until the 1st of Sept but you might just get a few sneak peeks before that.  So stay tuned.

More details coming soon too 🙂

OCC Sparkly Stuff Challenge!

“Sparkly Stuff” – you know, rhinestones, glitter… 🙂

This week’s challenge comes from Paula McClane at Scrap Addict’s Attic.

So this is Paula here, one of the newbies to the Design Team, I’m so excited to be on the team!  Let’s get to it then, my first challenge! I am not a girly girl, I’m mostly found wearing a tee shirt and capris or jeans.  But sometimes you just gotta whip out the shiny sparkly stuff & make it dazzle! Use rhinestones, stickles, glitter, etc along with items found in nature (plants, animals, etc)!  A bit of bling mixed with nature..”

Well, who doesn’t like a bit of bling?
This card was inspired by one I saw… well, somewhere!  There are so many ways to get inspiration these days that it gets difficult to know where you saw things…

Anyway, I have used the Shaving Cream technique to colour some white card stock. I haven’t used this techniques for a long time and thought it would be fun to give it a go again.  My son had fun too! 🙂
Butterflies have then been cut out using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die, through the Big Shot.  And I admit that some of the Rhinestone bling is not from Stampin’ Up!  You could, however, use the clear rhinestones and colour them using a Sharpie or other permanent marker, in the colours you want.
Another fun challenge, so I hope you play along with us this week.  Check out what my fellow Design Team members have created for this challenge.  Now there’s some inspiration!
Get out your glitter and rhinestones and anything else that qualifies as bling! And happy stamping!

Same colours, different card.

My previous post showed a card that I made for the colour challenge this week at Our Creative Corner.  And I did say that I had struggled with that challenge.  Truthfully, I made three cards and was not entirely happy with any of them, but I have been challenged to share them with you! 🙂

So, here is another card which uses the same colour combination and some fabric.

This one uses the Field Flowers stamp set, which has been coloured using ink and an aqua brush, and then spritzed with water before stamping it onto watercolour paper. One flower has been cut out and layered over the top of the first, and both flowers have a coating of Crystal Effects to give them a shine.  The watercolour paper has then be cut using the Two Tags Die through the Big Shot (love my Big Shot!).
It’s perhaps a little difficult to see in the photo, but the black layer of card stock has also been run through the Big Shot using the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder.

As for the third card, it is not quite finished, but I will post it over the next few days.

Happy stamping!
Chris

OCC Colour Challenge

This week’s challenge at Our Creative Corner is a colour challenge, to use the colours Lime, Poppy, Pink, Black and White, along with either fabric or circles (or both!).  Lori Rider has given us a photo for inspiration for this challenge:

For some reason I struggled a little with this one, I have ended up with three cards made using the colours, but I will only show you one today. 🙂  Might show you the others another time.

I have used the Twitterpated fabric as a background and have stamped the swirly image from Precious Butterflies (Hostess set) in black Stazon ink, directly onto the fabric. I have then stitched the fabric onto the black card stock using my sewing machine!  Yes, you heard right… I used my sewing machine!
For the leaves I have used the Little Leaves Sizzlit Die, and the white flowers Blossom Party Originals Die.  The little flowers are made using the Itty Bitty Shapes punch set.
This one is a little different for me, but I enjoyed the challenge.
Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team’s fabulous creations.

Have a great weekend, and happy stamping!
Chris
