New In Colours

With the release of the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue only a few days away, I thought I would introduce you to the new In Colours for 2015-2017.

I have made a card using a combination of Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe.

The flower is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set, which has been heat embossed with white embossing powder.  The flowers have then had some Mint Macaron ink painted onto the cardstock to give a little depth of colour, using a Blender Pen.
I will be back with some more ideas using some new goodies over the next few weeks.  Contact me if you live locally (Canberra, Cooma area) and would like one of the new catalogues.
Happy stamping!

Washi Tape Challenge

The new challenge at The Male Room, for the next fortnight, is a stash challenge.  It’s time to use all that wonderful Washi Tape that we have in our stash – be as creative as you like.  Just remember, your project must have a masculine feel.  You can make a card, scrapbook page, tag, 3D project – just use Washi!!!!

My card uses a variety of different Stampin’ Up! Washi Tapes, in some lovely bright colours.  The “happy” has been cut out of the black layer using one of the Dies from the Hello You Thinlits Dies.  The Washi Tape is adhered to the layer below so that it shows through.

WashiTapeChallenge

The “Birthday” word was stamped onto some white cardstock and cut out with the Word Window punch then layered onto some washi tape which was adhered to a strip of white cardstock and then the flags cut into the ends.

This is my final challenge as Guest Designer with the team at The Male Room, so a big thanks for having me along during May.
Happy stamping!

Gingham, Checks, Plaid or Tartan

This week at Cardz 4 Guys, Helen has challenged us to use Check, Gingham, Plaid or Tartan on our projects, and it must be a prominent feature.

My card features once again, some of the some of the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack from Stampin’ Up! which has become one of my favourites for masculine cards.  And I have combined it with another favourite, the wonderful Lovely As A Tree stamp set. It must be one of the most popular stamp sets ever, great for all sorts of occasions, and again, wonderful for masculine cards.
This is my last week with the team at Cardz 4 Guys, I have enjoyed being Guest Designer for the month of May and just want to say thanks to the rest of the Design Team for having me along.

Happy Stamping!

Sketch Challenge

It’s my turn to host the challenge this week at Crafty Boots Challenges, and for the next two weeks my challenge to you, is to use this sketch to make a project:

There are one or two additional rules for our sketch challenge:
  • you can rotate the sketch and you can re size the elements if you wish.
  • do not move the elements around too much, the original sketch layout should still be recognisable.
  • you can use any materials you like to make anything you like, for example, a card, a box top, a gift bag, a scrapbook page, an ATC, an inchie, etc.  Just as long as the original sketch design is obvious in whatever you make.

I have made two cards this week, the first a Clean and Simple card:

and secondly, a more vintage style card featuring some different patterned papers and some lace:

I thought the teddies in this paper series were just too cute, so had to make them in to a card.  For this card I have turned the sketch side on, and used the teddy pattern on the papers to represent the circles of the sketch.  So you can see, there are heaps of ways you can use this sketch, and we would love to see your projects, at Crafty Boots Challenges.

Happy stamping!

Cards for our Troops

A quick post today to share with you two cards I have made for Combat Cards.  Combat Cards is a wonderful organisation which sends handmade cards over to our troops who are serving overseas, so that they can send a card to their loved ones.

Having spent 5 years in the Armed Forces myself, I know what it feels like to be away from family and friends for an extended period of time, so it makes me happy to know that I am helping out in some small way.

My cards are made with some retired bits and pieces from an old Simply Scrappin’ Kit.  I need to use up some old stuff so that I can fill the spaces with new stuff!! 🙂 Right?  🙂
Have a crafty weekend!

Something new….

I know, you have all just been hanging out for a bit of a peak at something from the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue which isn’t released until the 2nd of June, and I have been keeping you in suspense……
So I have made a card, just for you, using a brand new stamp set called Sprinkles of Life.

I have made my card using the colours from the latest Just Add Ink Challenge:

I just love this stamp set, it is very versatile, plus it is the Ronald MacDonald House Charity stamp set, so for every one of these sets that is sold, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to Ronald MacDonald House Charity.  The stamp set includes 22 different stamps, so I will bring you some more creations using it, along with the matching punch.
I hope you are having a crafty weekend.
Happy stamping!

Creative Ladybirds Challenge Reminder

Just a reminder to join us for the current Creative Ladybirds Creations Challenge, there are great Digital images to be won from our sponsors.
I have created a couple of extra cards for this post.

This card uses an image from Lacy Sunshine stamps called Daisy Delitte.  Isn’t she gorgeous? 🙂

And a masculine card featuring the Pocket Watch image from Ikes Art, and using some gorgeous retired Stampin’ Up! papers.
So do please share your projects with us, we love to see what you have been creating!
Happy stamping!

The Male Room Guest Designer

I am very excited to let you know that I have also been asked to do a Guest Design spot during May with The Male Room, another fantastic challenge to inspire you to make more masculine cards.

My first challenge with The Male Room, is to use this colour combination for your project.

If you are using Stampin’ Up! colours, they are Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon and Crumb Cake, (or dark olive green, dark teal and kraft) although I have used River Rock (a retired SU colour) instead of Crumb Cake for my card, which I have combined with a base of Naturals Ivory cardstock.

I have used the colour blocking technique for my card, and then stamped over the blocks of colour with tree stamp from Serene Silhouettes stamp set, in Mossy Mellow ink.

A big thanks to the team at The Male Room for having along this month.  I hope you will share your masculine projects with us.
Happy stamping!

Cardz 4 Guys Make Your Mark

This week’s challenge at Cardz 4 Guys has been chosen by Julie who would like you to create your project using Man (Woman) made marks only.  Stitching, inks, embossing, any colouring pens/pencils, water colours, stencils.

I made two cards for this week’s challenge:

The first card uses some retired Stampin’ Up! papers for a background, and I have stamped direct onto the papers using the Adventure Awaits and The Open Sea stamp sets.

My second card was a slightly different interpretation of the “Make Your Mark” theme, since I didn’t have any more information about this challenge at the time.

I have used a digital image called Graduation Guy from Kenny K Downloads, which has been coloured with Copic Markers.
Check out what the rest of the Design Team have come up with for this challenge at Cardz 4 Guys Challenges.

Happy stamping!

Ribbon or Lace Challenge

This week’s Crafty Boots Challenge is to use Ribbons or Lace on your project.
I made this set for my sister for her birthday recently, and have used some lovely laces.

The laces are both from Stampin’ Up! the wider one is retired (unfortunately), and the narrower one is the current Venetian Crochet Trim.  The gorgeous papers are some that were in my stash, so can’t even tell you who designed them or where they came from.  Then I have used the Butterflies Thinlits Die for the large butterfly, with a stamped and coloured butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set over the top.

So please show us your pretty projects this week at Crafty Boots Challenges.
Happy Stamping!
