Punch Art Kitty

I had a little bit of fun this afternoon, making this cute kitty and designing a card for him to go on.

PunchArtKitty

We do love our four legged friends in this family, we have four beautiful cats (who live inside) and two rabbits (who live outside).  I had a little helper while I was making this card today, so if you see any black hairs they will be our little black cat’s contribution.  She does so love helping me craft, usually sitting on me or whatever I am making at the time and purring very loudly!
I didn’t think the kitty on my card would look as good all black though, so I did this one in similar colours to one of our other gorgeous cats, Biff.  Here is a photo, do you think it looks like him? 🙂

Anyway, the background papers are from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack, and I have used some of the Ovals Collection Framelits to create a frame for kitty to sit inside.  For kitty I have used the following punches:  1 3/4inch Circle Punch for the body, Flower Medallion Punch for the ears, Bow Builder Punch, trimmed with paper snips for the tail, Owl Builder Punch for the eyes and nose, and a retired punch (can’t remember the name of it, sorry) for those cute little paws.  And then just used a Black Marker to add some detail.
The words come from You Little Furball stamp set.

I am entering this card in the current Send A Smile 4 Kids Animal Cards Challenge.

Happy stamping

Up In The Air

The new challenge at The Male Room for the next fortnight is a theme of “Up In The Air but No Birds Allowed!”

Heaps of things you can still do with this challenge, planes, clouds, hot air balloons, or…… parachutists!

My card uses some gorgeous new Stampin’ Up! papers from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack, and this great image is from the Boys Will Be Boys stamp set.  Plus I have used a small piece of the new Corrugated cardstock to add a little more texture to my card.
Make sure you check out the inspiration from the rest of the Design Team.
Happy stamping!

Simply Papercraft Challenge 7

Our sponsor for the next fortnight at Simply Papercraft, is Lacy Sunshine.

I have chosen the very cute Sarah Jane image for my project.  Such a gorgeous girl!

Sarah Jane has been coloured with Copic Markers.  The background papers are all retired Stampin’ Up! papers, and everything else are bits and pieces from my stash.
Please share your projects with us at Simply Papercraft, we love to see what you have been up to.

Happy stamping!

Masculine Challenge Card

Just a quick reminder to share your masculine projects with us this week at Crafty Boots Challenges.

My card uses the Traveler stamp set from Stampin’ Up!, and I have inked up the steam train in Chocolate Chip ink.  The papers are (unfortunately) retired ones, but I loved the colours and thought it worked well with this particular image.
Hope you have a crafty week.  Happy stamping!
Chris

Simply Papercraft

Today is my first challenge with the Simply Papercraft Design Team, a fabulous papercrafting Challenge blog.

I have made a card using a digital image from Rosey Hearts called Spring Witch.

Such a cute image, but I thought she needed a lovely little black cat! 🙂  The kitty image comes from the Stampin’ Up! set called You Little Furball.  And the patterned papers are also retired Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers.  The gorgeous ribbon (which I was given as part of my Mother’s Day present!! Lucky me 🙂  ) is lovely and shimmery and shiny but doesn’t show up well in the photo.

Make sure you pop in and check out what the rest of the Design Team have created, and do share your own creations with us too, at Simply Papercraft.
Happy stamping!

Gingham, Checks, Plaid or Tartan

This week at Cardz 4 Guys, Helen has challenged us to use Check, Gingham, Plaid or Tartan on our projects, and it must be a prominent feature.

My card features once again, some of the some of the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack from Stampin’ Up! which has become one of my favourites for masculine cards.  And I have combined it with another favourite, the wonderful Lovely As A Tree stamp set. It must be one of the most popular stamp sets ever, great for all sorts of occasions, and again, wonderful for masculine cards.
This is my last week with the team at Cardz 4 Guys, I have enjoyed being Guest Designer for the month of May and just want to say thanks to the rest of the Design Team for having me along.

Happy Stamping!
Chris

Sketch Challenge

It’s my turn to host the challenge this week at Crafty Boots Challenges, and for the next two weeks my challenge to you, is to use this sketch to make a project:

There are one or two additional rules for our sketch challenge:
  • you can rotate the sketch and you can re size the elements if you wish.
  • do not move the elements around too much, the original sketch layout should still be recognisable.
  • you can use any materials you like to make anything you like, for example, a card, a box top, a gift bag, a scrapbook page, an ATC, an inchie, etc.  Just as long as the original sketch design is obvious in whatever you make.

I have made two cards this week, the first a Clean and Simple card:

and secondly, a more vintage style card featuring some different patterned papers and some lace:

I thought the teddies in this paper series were just too cute, so had to make them in to a card.  For this card I have turned the sketch side on, and used the teddy pattern on the papers to represent the circles of the sketch.  So you can see, there are heaps of ways you can use this sketch, and we would love to see your projects, at Crafty Boots Challenges.

Cards for our Troops

A quick post today to share with you two cards I have made for Combat Cards.  Combat Cards is a wonderful organisation which sends handmade cards over to our troops who are serving overseas, so that they can send a card to their loved ones.

Having spent 5 years in the Armed Forces myself, I know what it feels like to be away from family and friends for an extended period of time, so it makes me happy to know that I am helping out in some small way.

My cards are made with some retired bits and pieces from an old Simply Scrappin’ Kit.  I need to use up some old stuff so that I can fill the spaces with new stuff!! 🙂 Right?  🙂
Have a crafty weekend!

Ribbons and Lace

Just a quick reminder today, to share you projects using Ribbon and/or Lace, at Crafty Boots Challenges.

My card uses lots of retired Stampin’ Up! goodies, including the gorgeous papers, the ribbon and the lace, and the pretty tag I found in my local Reject Shop ($2 shop).
Happy stamping!

BBQ Dragon!

A new challenge at Crafty Girlz Challenges today, with Dr Digi as our sponsor.

Dr Digi
I have chosen to use the image called BBQ Dragon for my project.

I have combined the Dragon image with a Cave image from Make it Crafty, all coloured with Copic Markers, which has then been layered over some retired Stampin’ Up! Halloween papers.  I know it’s the wrong time of year for Halloween, but they just fit in with the cave.
Something a little different from my usual style, but I had fun with it!
Hope you will join us and share your projects at Crafty Girlz Challenges.

Happy stamping!
