Anything Goes at The Male Room

A new year sees a whole heap of great new challenges at The Male Room, with our first challenge for the year being Anything Goes – as long as it is masculine of course!

I am going to share with you the Box Card I made for my son for his recent 10th Birthday.  I haven’t tried one of these Box Cards before, so had heaps of fun trying out something new.
I wanted to combine the things that my son loves, so that would be cricket, and music, and of course I needed to add lots of balloons.  Then I needed to make sure I used his favourite colours, red and gold.  So here is the end result……

The balloons are stamped and punched out and come from the Balloon Celebration stamp set.  The number “10” was die cut from Red Foil using the Large Numbers Framelit Dies.  The cricket image is one I found online, and everything else is from my stash! 🙂
Here are some photos from different angles.

Please come and join in with us at The Male Room and share some of your masculine projects with us.

Happy stamping!
Chris

The Male Room wishes you a Merry Christmas

Today we have a Christmas challenge at The Male Room, and a special message to wish all of you a Merry Christmas.

I have two cards that I made up for this challenge, both using some of the music print from the Home for Christmas Designer Series Papers, along with some of those gorgeous baubles from the Delicate Ornament Thinlits dies.  I love this combination for masculine cards, the gold and black together are quite striking.
I do hope you will share you Christmas projects with us at The Male Room, and look forward to a whole new year of challenges in 2016.
Merry Christmas,
Chris

Remembrance Day at The Male Room

Today, all over the world, Remembrance Day is celebrated, although here in Australia we tend to focus more on Anzac Day than today.  There are special parades and remembrance services going on today though, and it is still a day for contemplating and remembering.
At The Male Room, we are asking you to create a project using the Remembrance Day theme, or Sympathy.

I have made a Sympathy card for my project, using a technique that I really like for this type of card.

The technique I have used for the background is the direct ink technique, in this case, the ink is put directly onto a clear mount block (without a stamp on it) and then directly onto the card stock.  I have swiped some different coloured inks across my block, and before pressing the inked block onto my cardstock, I have stuck a circle of punched out Post It note down, to create the white circle “moon”.  I think the subtlety of this background is perfect for Sympathy cards.
Over the background ink, I have then stamped some images from the Wetlands, and The Wilderness Awaits stamp sets.
I hope you will join in with us at The Male Room again this fortnight.
Happy Stamping!

Hardware

The theme for this week’s challenge at The Male Room is to use some of your stash, in particular, some Hardware!

I had some fun with this one, and thought I would feature some brads, but also a different form of “hardware”…..

a Robot!
Mr Robot comes from the stamp set Boys Will Be Boys and is heat embossed onto the back cardstock with Silver embossing powder.  The photo is not great, I had difficulties trying to find a good spot to take a photo of this card with all the silver.  Make sure you check out all the fabulous projects from the rest of the Design Team at The Male Room.
Happy stamping!

Patty’s Autumn Challenge

This month at Pattie’s Creations challenge, we are doing an Autumn (or Fall) or Halloween challenge.
I have chosen the Autumn Wreath image to use for my card for this challenge.

Here is my card:

I have used some lovely retired paper for the background, I love the look of the wood planks.
The image has been coloured using Copic Markers and then fussy cut – yep, with scissors!
I hope you will join us with your own Autumn project this month at Pattie’s Creations Challenge.
Happy stamping!

Neon Colour Challenge

Our challenge at The Male Room for the next fortnight is to use Neon Colours on your projects.
I knew straight away that this one was going to make me think…..  I don’t have any Neon colours anywhere in my stash.
So I went shopping and found a pack of neon coloured cardstock in my local $2 shop!  And here is what I did with it……

Yep, I had fun!  I cut strips of the different colours into long triangle shapes and stuck them onto a cardstock backing to create a starburst, then stamped and fussy cut the motor bike from the Stampin’ Up! “Rev Up The Fun!” stamp set and mounted it over the centre of the starburst.  That is one bright card!!
Lots of inspiration from the rest of the Design Team at The Male Room, so why not have a look at what they have all come up with.  And make sure you share your projects with us too.
Happy stamping!

The Male Room – Use Newsprint

A slight delay in transmission at this end, I apologise for my post being a little late.  If you didn’t know, we have just been in the process of moving to a new house in a new area.  It took us a couple of weeks to get our internet up and running, and I have no idea what day it is!!  But we are getting there, still have a heap of boxes to unpack and sort, and all my stamping goodies are still packed 😦
We have moved to a gorgeous part of Australia, called the Sapphire Coast.  Here is where I spent my day today:

And so to my slightly delayed post, my Design Team card for this fortnight’s challenge at The Male Room, which is to use Newsprint on your project.
I hope you will check out the inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, and share your creations with us, we love to see your ideas.
Happy stamping!

The Male Room – Spots and Stripes

For the next couple of weeks at The Male Room we want your masculine style projects to include SPOTS AND STRIPES.  Don’t forget you can make any type of papercraft project – but it must be for the men in our lives – both young and old.

CHALLENGE#15

I have used some polka dot papers for my background and then layered some strips of cardstock in various colours on an angle over the patterned papers.  Such a great way to use up some of those strips that we all seem to collect.

The car stamp and the sentiment were freebies from a magazine I bought recently.  Both the car and the “Happy” have been fussy cut and mounted on dimensional tape.
I hope you will join in with our challenge at The Male Room.
Happy stamping,
Chris

Up In The Air

The new challenge at The Male Room for the next fortnight is a theme of “Up In The Air but No Birds Allowed!”

Heaps of things you can still do with this challenge, planes, clouds, hot air balloons, or…… parachutists!

My card uses some gorgeous new Stampin’ Up! papers from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack, and this great image is from the Boys Will Be Boys stamp set.  Plus I have used a small piece of the new Corrugated cardstock to add a little more texture to my card.
Make sure you check out the inspiration from the rest of the Design Team.
Happy stamping!

The Male Room Design Team

Very excited again today, I can finally let you know that I have been asked to be part of the wonderful team of designers with one of my favourite challenges at The Male Room!

DT Member badge

I have been holding on to that piece of information for a while now, but very happy to be able to share it now 🙂
This week’s challenge is to add a tag to your project:

CHALLENGE#12

I thought I would keep my card quite clean and simple today, and use one of the gorgeous new Stampin’ Up! In Colours, called Tip Top Taupe!  Cool name!

The striped patterned paper come from the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack.  I have created a tag using the Scalloped Tag Topper punch, with some Faux Stitching around the edge and some Natural Chevron Ribbon through the top.  The globe image comes from the Traveler stamp set, definitely a favourite for making masculine cards!
Looking forward to sharing heaps of masculine cards with you, and to seeing all of your projects.  So please share them with us at The Male Room.
Happy stamping!
