Oriental Masculine Card

This really was a challenge!  But I like a challenge…. I do, really…….
This fortnight’s challenge at The Male Room is to make a masculine project with an “Oriental” feel.

Mmmmm…… I found some oriental rice papers at a local craft market and bought a sheet in these lovely colours, perfect for a masculine card.  And because the colours are so lovely and vibrant, I thought it would be nice to keep the rest of the card clean, simple and just black and white.

I have used the stamp set called In The Meadow, with black Memento ink, a strip of red cardstock and some Gold Cording Trim, and that is pretty much it!  Quick and easy!
I wonder what the rest of the Design Team have done with this one?  You can have a look here.
Happy stamping!
Chris
PS.  Sorry about the photo, we have had so much rain and heaps of stormy weather that it has been quite difficult to find a spot and the right light to get a decent photo.  Typical Australian summer!! 🙂

Pretty New Papers

Oh yes, the new patterned papers from Stampin’ Up! are stunning, so I wanted to feature two different ones on my card today.  And I have used the sketch challenge from Mojo Monday 429 to design my card.

The only stamping on this card, is the Happy Birthday sentiment, which comes from the Balloon Celebration stamp set.
The background papers are from the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack, and the beautiful feature flower is from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Papers. I have used a circle die to cut it straight from the 12×12 sheet, although I really didn’t want to cut it up, it is too beautiful!!

Happy Stamping!
Chris

Anything Goes at The Male Room

A new year sees a whole heap of great new challenges at The Male Room, with our first challenge for the year being Anything Goes – as long as it is masculine of course!

I am going to share with you the Box Card I made for my son for his recent 10th Birthday.  I haven’t tried one of these Box Cards before, so had heaps of fun trying out something new.
I wanted to combine the things that my son loves, so that would be cricket, and music, and of course I needed to add lots of balloons.  Then I needed to make sure I used his favourite colours, red and gold.  So here is the end result……

The balloons are stamped and punched out and come from the Balloon Celebration stamp set.  The number “10” was die cut from Red Foil using the Large Numbers Framelit Dies.  The cricket image is one I found online, and everything else is from my stash! 🙂
Here are some photos from different angles.

Please come and join in with us at The Male Room and share some of your masculine projects with us.

Happy stamping!
Chris

Something Old, Something New

The new challenge from Crafty Boots Challenges is “Something Old, Something New”, which is just in time for the release of not just the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalogue, but also this years Sale-a-Bration, both of which start tomorrow (5th Jan 2016).
So for my project, you get a bit of a sneak peek of some new goodies!

My card uses some of the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Papers as a background, from the Sale-a-bration catalogue.  Then from the new Occasions catalogue, there is some gorgeous new Baker’s Twine, and the balloons are from the Balloon Celebration stamp set and Balloon Bouquet punch.  That covers the “New” side.
And for the “Old” I have used the Hello You Thinlits dies, and Crazy About You stamp set for the sentiment.
I am loving this colour combination too, the pretty Blushing Bride pink combines beautifully with the Mint Macaron, but looks fantastic with the pop of bright colour of the Rich Razzleberry.  Yum scrum!!
Tomorrow I will pop up links to the new catalogues, and some more inspiration.
And why not join in with this challenge at Crafty Boots.

Happy stamping!
Chris
