Welcome to another Creative Showcase with the Art With Heart Team.

This month we are featuring Masculine themed projects.
We have many masculine themed products in the Stampin’ Up! range including Stamp Sets and coordinating Dies, Designer Series Papers, Embellishments and Embossing Folders.
Art With Heart Team have a wonderful selection of projects to inspire you to create Masculine Masterpieces.

I have done something a little different with my masculine card today, in that I have used some Designer Series Paper that is definitely not masculine.
It’s the Best Dressed DSP and probably not one you would have chosen for a masculine card.  But I have used the reverse side of this one….
87077996_192940428451175_8357496974894694400_n
and used it as a background for my masculine card.

And I also wanted to keep it nice and simple, so have taken a piece of the fabulous watercolour paper, wet it down with an aqua painter, and then swooshed some ink across it, very quickly and freely.
Then once the watercolour paper was dry, I stamped the lighthouse and birds from the Sailing Home stamp set in Pretty Peacock ink, and the words are from the New Wonders stamp set.
Layered over some Pretty Peacock cardstock, and it’s a very quick and easy card to make.

Using Brads or Eyelets

Tropical Oasis Stampin' Up! Vintage Car Christina Barnes Dot Dot Stamping 2
Finally, I am organised enough to have joined in with the Design Team for Cardz4Guyz this fortnight.
Crafting has been a bit hit and miss, and blogging even more so, over the past few months.  But it’s good to be back.
Our challenge this fortnight is to use Brads or Eyelets on your projects.
My cards actually use stick on brads, but close enough.  Personally I am going away from the ones that go through the layers, they can be very bulky, so I have gone with this stick-on type.

My cards feature the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, and that gorgeous car has been fussy cut from the DSP.  The cards also feature the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder.

The frame on the first card, and the centre panel of the second, were one piece of cardstock which I die cut using the Stitched Rectangle dies.

Make sure you check out what the rest of the Design Team have been up to here, and share your own projects, we love to see what you have been creating.

Happy Stamping!

Trees or Leaves, or Both

Our new challenge at Cardz4Guyz is to create a project featuring Trees, Leaves or both of those.
It’s spring here in Australia, so the leaves are just starting to shoot on the trees, however, for my card, I have used some of the gorgeous Come To Gather Designer Series Paper.
I love the Autumn colours in this paper, and it’s fantastic for masculine cards.

I have also run the Vanilla panel through the Big Shot with the Woodland Embossing Folder, so there are some trees in there behind the leaves.
The leaves have all been fussy cut from the Come To Gather Designer Series Paper.
And the sentiment is from the #Elfie stamp set.

Join us at Cardz4Guyz and share your projects, we love to see what you have been doing.
Happy stamping!

Inspired by the Beatles

Masculine Card Christina Barnes Dot Dot Stamping Guitar Silhouette Music

This week’s challenge at Cardz4Guyz is to create a project inspired by the band, the Beatles.
My card could just be about the Beatles in general, but in this case it is inspired by their song “While my Guitar Gently Weeps”.

I have used a long ago retired Stampin’ Up! image, which I stamped from a friend’s stamp set many years ago, and still had the image lying around in my stash.
It’s good to use up some old bits and pieces I have lying around sometimes.
And the embossing folder, I think I got as a free gift when I first bought a Big Shot, perhaps about 11 years ago!!

You can find out what the rest of the Design Team have created using the Beatles challenge at Cardz4Guyz, and we hope you will share your own ideas with us.
Happy stamping!

Celebrate!

This week at Cardz4Guyz we are Celebrating!
That could be celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, or any special occasion.
Celebrate Card by Christina Barnes Dot Dot Stamping 2019 For The Love of Felt

As my main stamp set for this card, I have chosen one that I bought to go with a kit, called For The Love of Felt, the stamp set has the same name.
I don’t want the stamp set to sit idle and not earn it’s keep, now that I am no longer running the kit class.
The swirl and the “Let’s Celebrate” comes from For The Love of Felt stamp set, and “Celebrate the Best Day Ever” is from the Band Together Stamp Set.
The trusty Stamparatus was the main tool for making this card come together, making it really easy to line the sentiments up and creating the swirl along the side.
The ink colours I have used are Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green.

DIY Card

This week’s challenge at Cardz4Guyz is DIY.

This one was a little challenging for me, until I remembered this great Designer Series Paper called Follow Your Art, with all the brushes and rollers…..perfect!

C4G DIY Aug19

The stamped image comes from the Host set called Believe You Can, and I have set that back behind a frame made by using one of the Stitched Rectangles Dies, and fussy cut some individual items out of the papers.
I hope you will join us at Cardz4Guyz, we love to see your projects.

Happy stamping!

Firstly today, I am very excited to let you know that I am now a member of the Design Team for Cardz 4 Guyz, and so will be posting heaps more masculine cards for you.  The challenge is fortnightly, and I hope you will share your projects with us and pop in and check out what is going on.  Here is the link to the challenge blog: https://cardz4guyz.blogspot.com/

Today I am sharing my first card as a member of the Design Team, and fittingly, the theme is Music.  You may not be aware that I was a professional musician in a former part of my life and still play a lot of music, these days as an amateur in support of my son who also plays an instrument.

Cardz4Guyz Music Card

The only stamping on this card is the sentiment.  Everything else is from various sets of Designer Series Papers.  The music and wood background papers are both from Pressed Petals Designer Series Papers, and the gorgeous little bird has been fussy cut out of the Bird Ballad Designer Series Papers.
The sentiment is normally straight but since it is a photopolymer stamp, I have curved it onto the clear block, to create some nice shape.

Why not come on over to Cardz4Guyz and check out what the rest of the Design Team have been doing with this challenge.
Happy stamping!

Black and White Masculine Card

64784053_506276126806293_6373538249570254848_n

Another card using the Sailing Home stamp set and Smooth Sailing Dies, they make it so easy to create great masculine cards.
This card is for the current challenge at Cardz4Guyz, which is to make a masculine card using only Black and White.
Black and White Sailing Card

So many ideas and options for that one, but I am loving this stamp and die set, so thought I would use it again for this card.
All of the elements on the card are part of this set of stamps and dies, apart from the “Hello”, which is from Good Morning Magnolia stamp set.
And my knotted row of knots…. lined up beautifully because I used my new favourite tool, the Stamparatus.  So much fun!

Hope you have a crafty evening.  Happy stamping!
Chris

The Art of Writing

My card today features some different Designer Series Papers to the ones I have been using recently.
Writing Card

The lovely stripey one in the background is from the Come Sail Away DSP, I love the soft colour, it would be wonderful for baby cards or feminine cards, or… well, any cards really.
Down the sides of the DSP, I have used a piercing tool to make the holes and then joined the dots using a marker.  It went a bit wobbly in a couple of places – I need more practice!

The pen and ink bottle have been fussy cut from the Follow Your Art DSP.
The words are from the New Wonders Host stamp set, and the background layer has been embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.

The Male Room card challenges have a Multiple Layers challenge happening at the moment, so I think this one qualifies.

Have a crafty weekend!

Colour Creations – Soft Suede

55443509_10158296294103098_3790466130875777024_o

This week’s Colour Creations challenge is to use Soft Suede.

60697901_10158441846598098_6986632139445895168_n

I’ve gone with lots of texture from embossing folders on my card again today, this time using the Layered Leaves, and the Woodland embossing folders.
The colour combination is Crumb Cake, Merry Merlot and of course, Soft Suede.

Colour Creations Soft Suede

And there is just a little Early Espresso ink in the background behind the trees of the Woodland embossing folder.  So to get that effect, I have swiped the ink pad across the raised part of the folder, before placing the cardstock in the folder and then running it through the Big Shot.  The darker background just helps to make those trees pop a little.

Make sure you check out some more inspiration using Soft Suede by going over to Cathy’s blog where you can find the links.

Happy stamping!
