The Crafty Addicts Challenges – Colour Splash Card

The Crafty Addicts is back again this month with an open challenge, meaning we want to see any and all of your cards, there’s no restriction as to what you can use, just craft away and share with us.
My card for this month is one that was a bit of an experiment, I’m not too sure that I am happy with the colours, they are for a colour challenge, and I’m not sure I would normally put them together. But it’s always fun to play with colour.

I have used the Foursquare Decorative Masks and some Masking Paper. Each section has been masked, then coloured with ink and blending brushes. Then the masks removed and replaced to create a new area to sponge in a different colour. The circle mask I left there during that process of colouring the background. I’ve then simply used a ruler and black marker to draw the lines in between each colour.
It looks a whole lot more complicated that it really is. Masking is one of my favourite stamping techniques.
And just to add to all the masking going on, I decided to mask the sentiment which comes from the Sending Smiles stamp set, they are two different stamps, I’ve masked half of the strip of cardstock and stamped the word birthday, then masked over the stamped word, and stamped the word hugs.
The colours used are Azure Afternoon, Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lolly, Crushed Curry, and Flirty Flamingo.

Come on over to The Crafty Addicts challenge site where you can see what the rest of the Design Team have made this month. And do share your creations, we love to see what you’ve been crafting.
Happy stamping
Chris

Global Design Project Colour Challenge

I saw these colours and knew straight away that I had to play along, what a delicicous colour combination! And most of you know by now that I love, love, love a challenge.

I have added some Crumb Cake and White to these colours and featured the Gorgeously Made Dies, paired with the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks.
I have used the Decorative Masks to first put a wash of the Azure Afternoon colour across most of the Basic White layer, and then using a different mask, have overlaid the existing colour with the three different colours, Azure Afternoon at the top, Blueberry Bushel in the centre and Berry Burst towards the bottom.

I am just loving the subtle effect that these Decorative Masks can be used for, and for some more dramatic effects as well. I have some more ideas to share using these, so stay tuned for that.
And in the meantime, if you are looking for more ideas using this great colour combo, head on over to Global Design Project where there are some gorgeous projects.

Happy Stamping

The Zoo Crew Jam Session

The musician in me couldn’t help but want to turn this Designer Series Paper into a jam session, and while I have made a card today, I may well end up using it for some scrapbook layouts.
The Zoo Crew Designer Series paper is just so cute, but the images are not all music related, there are all sorts of animals doing crazy things. Really fun DSP, and great for all sorts of papercrafting.

The background cardstock is Lemon Lime Twist which has been embossed with the Merry Melody embossing folder, and then distressed and sponged with black ink to give it more of a grungy feel.
The sentiment is from the Let’s Set Sail stamp set, which is the only stamping on the card.

This card is going in the Just Add Ink challenge, which for this week is…. Just Add Music.

Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper is one of the paper packs you can get at a discount of 15% off in June, it has the great black and white prints on the reverse of the animal prints, making it a very useful and versatile DSP. Definitely worth grabbing an extra pack this month. You can find it, and all the other DSP on sale by going to my online store here, or use your device to scan the QR code below.

Hope it’s your Best Day Ever,
Chris

The salvaged card

Another short post tonight, I wanted to share a card that I started a week or so ago, but put aside because it just wasn’t going together.

Yes, we all have those, sometimes things just don’t feel right and don’t go the way we think they are going to.

My solution has always been to put it aside and do something different. My challenge has been, going back to those projects that weren’t working out, to try to finish them. And it’s one of the things I am determined to continue to do – complete those projects, and use the scraps and little pieces that are left over.

So my card was originally one that I was making to feature on the Wild Wheat Colour Creations blog hop, and it does have some Wild Wheat, but not very much.

My card features the Color and Contour stamp set along with the Elegant Eucalyptus embossing folder.

Don’t forget the fantastic joining deal that’s on during June. Reach out if you have any queries. In the meantime, happy stamping.

Chris

Foursquare Decorative Masks

I prefer to call these Stencils, I think that’s what they always used to be called. Whatever you prefer to call them though, these are an amazing and versatile tool for making all sorts of papercraft projects.
My card uses these masks, as well as the technique of masking to create a card that looks like it has three panels on the front, but is, in fact, just one piece of Basic White cardstock.

I have masked off the three sections first, and sponged ink through the Decorative Mask with Fresh Freesia, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight inks using Blending Brushes.
I have then inked the image from the Quiet Meadow Stamp set with Tuxedo Black Memento ink, and masked off the outside of the three panels before stamping.
The images have been very lightly coloured using Stampin’ Blends, as have the Rhinestone Jewels.

I am having a lot of fun with these Decorative Masks, and I am also in the process of creating a Tutorial / Class featuring them, so watch this space for that.

Happy stamping!
Chris

Colour Creations Stampin’Up! Wild Wheat

This week our Colour Creations Blog Hop is featuring Wild Wheat, and I have three different projects again this week. The first is a masculine card featuring the Wildlife Wonder stamp set, combined with a panel from the Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper.

I have kept the card quite simple, just the panel of DSP on a cardbase of Basic Black, and the stamping straight onto the DSP. The ink colours used are Wild Wheat and Black, with a touch of Pebbled Path for the birds and at the base of the “wheat”.
I have created a free Tutorial for this card, just click this link to find it.

My second project is a Scrappy Tag, meaning a tag using up some of those scraps and bits and pieces that I didn’t want to throw out. I have used the negative from a Die cut from a previous project, sponged in Wild Wheat ink, plus little bits and pieces of DSP. The butterfly is die cut from a scrap of Crushed Curry cardstock, and I’ve added some In Color Dots in Wild Wheat.

And my final project is another card, featuring the Zoo Crew DSP.

I have used Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the flowers on the black and white DSP, adding in some Daffodil Delight and Coastal Cabana to brighten the colours a little. And I’ve used the Sending Smiles stamp set and matching Sending Dies.

Now it’s time to hop on over to the very talented Rachel Palmieri to see what she has created with Wild Wheat.

If at any time you find a broken link, please go to the blog of this week’s host of the Colour Creations Blog Hop Cathy Proctor, who will have a list of all of the participants in the Blog Hop, where I’m sure you will find a heap more inspiration.

Happy Stamping, and Happy Hopping,
Chris

Colour Creations Stampin’Up! Pebbled Path

This week our featured colour is Pebbled Path, which is another very versatile neutral, and I have used it to create a masculine card.

In the background I have used the Timber Embossing Folder, I thought it looked a little like ripples of water.

I have used the Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper, and fussy cut the fish from the DSP.
If you know me well, you would know that I can not stand the thought of any animal being hurt, so my little fish were originally going to be strung up, but I couldn’t cope with that, so instead they are all swimming freely in the rather murky coloured water 🙂

Some Linen Thread, a couple of 2023-25 In Color Dots, and the stamped sentiment is from the Wildlife Wonder stamp set.
And just one other feature that I have used to give the main part of the card a framed look, is a border of a single scored line which I have done with the Paper Trimmer.

Next on our Blog Hop is the talented Kate Morgan.

Colour Creations Stampin’Up! Moody Mauve

I have three different projects to share with you today, featuring the new In Color Moody Mauve.
Who likes it?
Who doesn’t?
I’m hearing a lot of different opinions on this colour.
Personally, I LOVE it!!
So here are my projects.
The first one is a card that I have made using up some of those scraps of watercolour paper.

I have used some of the scraps of watercolour paper and coloured it with some Moody Mauve, Wild Wheat and Mossy Meadow ink and a Water Painter, before die cutting them with some of the Meadow Dies.
I have also die cut the same in Mossy Meadow cardstock, and then overlaid the flower onto the Mossy Meadow, which gives a slight raised appearance to the flower, but also gives a shadowed effect where you can see the tiniest amount of the dark Mossy Meadow behind the flower.

Next I am going to share with you some paper roses that I have been making.
My 17 year old son is displaying some of his wonderful woodturned items at a Wedding Fair this weekend and I was given the opportunity to create some flower displays to complement his items.
These roses are going to be part of this display but at this stage are just individual roses, four in Mood Mauve, and one Very Vanilla.
(I love Moody Mauve paired with Very Vanilla, simply gorgeous!)

And my last project is another card, this one a slightly different fold to a standard card.

The base of the card is a single layer which doesn’t open, with the opening card attached in front.

I have used some Blackberry Bliss for the base of this card to add some depth of colour.

I do hope that I have managed to help you to love Moody Mauve a little better, but if you need some more inspiration, keep on hopping along to Rachel Palmieri.

If at any time you find a broken link, please head to the blog of this week’s host of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop Cathy Proctor, who will have a list of all the participants in the Blog Hop.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy hopping,
Chris

Colour Creations Stampin’ Up! Copper Clay

This week’s Art With Heart Team blog hop features the new In Color, Copper Clay, another versatile colour, which I have combined with several of the other new In Colors for my project today.

I have made a standard Z Fold Card, with some Copper Clay cardstock as my large piece at the back, and Basic White cardstock for the front Z. And I have featured the adorable Happy Hedgehogs stamp set for my card today.

For those of us who a financially challenged in the current climate, along with a colour reset plus a new catalogue, brings the question of how to make the most of the new colours without breaking the bank, and I have chosen to buy the pack of Stampin’ Write markers, and use these to colour the images.

The trees have been coloured with Copper Clay for the trunk and branches, Old Olive for the leaves, Moody Mauve for the flowers and Wild Wheat for the buds. And the bird is coloured with Pebbled Path.

I hope my card today makes you smile, I just love these gorgeous little hedgehogs, with their friends.

And for some more inspiration, it’s time to hop along to see what Tina Gillespie has made using Copper Clay.

If at any time you find a broken link, please head to the blog of this week’s host of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop Cathy Proctor, who will have a list of all the participants in the Blog Hop.

Happy Stamping, and Happy Hopping!

Try Stampin on Tuesday Sketch # 547

This week at Try Stampin on Tuesday, we are using this sketch for our projects, with the option of adding some Metallics.

For the background of my card I have used some of the Symbols of Fortune Designer Series Paper which has the gold foil embedded in it.
The circle element is a die cut from the Encircled in Beauty Dies, with a strip of the Layering Designs Vellum to the right.

The main stamped image I have kept soft and subtle by using Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the stamp from the Elegantly Said stamp set. The colours I have used are Fresh Freesia for the flower, Soft Succulent for the leaves, and then some Basic Grey and Smokey Slate.
Make sure you come over to Try Stampin on Tuesday blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have created with this sketch, and please join in, we love to see your creations.
Happy stamping!
Chris
