Something old, something New!

I am a little late with my post for the newest Crafty Boots challenge, as we had a couple of severe storms here yesterday which had our internet out for quite some time.   But all is well, and so here it is……

This fortnight, our challenge theme is “Something old, something New”.  I have chosen to use some “old” stamp sets and dies, along with some “new” papers from our Sale-a-Bration catalogue, and I have made 2 children’s cards.

Both cards use the new “Irresistibly Yours” Designer Series Papers from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue, as a background.  I have then coloured the paper using inks and an aqua brush.  While this has made the paper quite wet, it does dry well, and can be straightened easily if it warps, by placing under a large book or similar.  I, however, was trying to get them done quickly and so didn’t give them enough time to dry well before making up my cards, and so they are still a little warped around the edges.

Here are the cards, one at a time:

As you can see, the ink colours the background, and allows the glossy pattern to emerge.  In the case of the first card, the glossy pattern is the dots.

I have kept the cards simple to allow the background colours and patterns to be more of a focus.  The glossy pattern on this card is the small stars.

This is a great challenge which you could interpret in lots of ways, so why not make up your own project using “Something old, and Something New” and share it with us at Crafty Boot Challenges.  We love seeing what you come up with.

Happy stamping!

Winter Wonderland Christmas Cards

Winter Wonderland is the theme this week at Crafty Boots Challenges.
I know a lot of people in Australia think it’s wrong to have Christmas cards made with winter themes and snowmen, but I think a lot of us have friends and relatives who live in other countries where it is snowing at this time of year.  I know I do.  So I have made a couple of “snowy” Christmas cards.

This first card uses the Lovely as a Tree stamp set – an oldie but a goodie, especially when it comes to snow-laden wintery trees.  I have stamped everything in Versamark ink onto some Silver Foil and heat embossed with White embossing powder, then layered the Silver Foil onto some white cardstock.  Simple, but effective.  And it’s flat, no bulky bits that stick out, so can easily be posted off without Mr Postie getting cranky!

The second card is again, predominantly white and silver, this time the trees have been stamped in Silver ink, and the cute little bird from For the Birds stamp set, has been stamped in Memento ink and coloured with Blendabilities.  I think he is off to decorate those silver trees. 🙂

And in other news, we have a couple of cheeky new members of our family….. here is one of them trying to “help” me type up this post 🙂

Masculine Star Card

Continuing on with our current Star theme at Crafty Boots Challenges, this week I have a masculine card to share with you.

I know a lot of people find masculine cards difficult to make, to be honest though, I really enjoy making them, and I know a lot of men enjoy getting lovely handmade cards, just as much as the ladies do 🙂

The background of the card uses some Sahara Sand cardstock which has been run through the Big Shot inside the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder.  I have then sponged some Basic Grey ink over the raised areas.  The stars have been cut out using the Stars Framelits, and the birthday greeting comes from Itty Bitty Banners stamp set.  Just a couple of small finishing touches – some Candy Dots which seem to be getting used a lot at the moment, and some paper piercing around the stars.

I do hope you will pop on over the the Crafty Boots Challenge Blog and check out all the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, and why not make a starry project to share with us?  We would love to see it!

Happy stamping!

Mojo Monday 373

A bright and cheery card today, using the sketch from this week’s Mojo Monday sketches:

Mojo373Sketch

A little bit of colouring today, I have stamped the image from For The Birds stamp set, and coloured it using both Blendabilities and Markers.

The layers of patterned papers are both from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Papers, and other than lots of layers, that’s pretty much it! 🙂

Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge

This week’s Just Add Ink challenge is this great sketch:

JAISketch_2008

For my card, I have used just the leaf stamp from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set, along with some markers in different colours, to create the lovely autumn coloured background.

I stamped a couple of extra leaves and then fussy cut them and placed them to frame the sentiment, along with a couple of Candy Dots.
I like this sketch, maybe I will make a Christmas card as well 🙂

Chocolate Boxes

I am keeping busy at present, making Christmas goodies for the upcoming Christmas markets in a month’s time here in Cooma.
I have made some of these cute little boxes that perfectly hold 2 Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

If you are interested in making some, I found the youTube tutorial by Linda Parker here:

Here’s a closer look:

The Designer Series Paper is a retired one from a few years ago, but lovely traditional Christmas colours! 🙂

Hope you are having a crafty weekend!

Christmas Baubles

It’s sad when a beautiful stamp set gets retired.  This one, called Ornamental Keepsakes was one of my favourite ever Christmas stamp sets.
I have used it with some retired papers to create a quick and easy Christmas card.

The baubles have been heat embossed with silver embossing powder onto white cardstock and then cut out using the matching framelits die.  Too easy!

More Blended Butterflies

I had so much fun colouring the butterflies from my post yesterday, that I did some more last night while I was enjoying watching our fantastic Australian Cricket Team beat the South Africans! 🙂  (Love my cricket!)  (And colouring).

I kept the cards more clean and simple this time, so that the butterflies are really the highlight.

And here are the cards individually.

Which one is your favourite?
Mine the the pink and purple one, but then those are my favourite colours, so it’s not really surprising. The stamps I have used are from the Papillon Potpourri set, and Million and One, and are of course, coloured with Blendabilities 🙂
Some more cards for the SUO Challenge I think 🙂

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy stamping!

Add some Texture!

One of my favourite ways of adding texture and interest to cards, and other projects is with Embossing Folders.  I think I am addicted to them!
This week’s Just Add Ink challenge is to add some texture to a project, so I did! 🙂

This card was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest recently (it didn’t have a name on it, so unfortunately I can’t give the person credit for their idea), and since I am also currently addicted to my Blendabilities, I thought I should combine the two.
The background was embossed with the Beautifully Baroque embossing folder, and the butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set were masked, stamped in Black Memento Ink and then coloured with the Blendabilities.
I am also going to enter this one into the SUO Challenges, where the current challenge is to use Markers or Blendabilities 🙂

Happy stamping!

Remembrance Day Projects

Just reminder of the fabulous challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges this week, don’t be scared of this one, there are so many possibilities……. just make something to remember someone by.

Here is a Scrapbook page that I have made using a really old photo of my Mum when she was very young and my Grandma, just a lovely way to remember two wonderful people who had a huge influence in my creativity.

Lots of goodies out of my stash in this page, including some gorgeous crocheted lace which I think was originally in my Mum’s stash of crafting goodies.

And I couldn’t resist the temptation to do a little more colouring with my Blendabilities, so thought I would make a Poppy themed card.

I didn’t own a Poppy stamp, so went looking around online and found this lovely image which I downloaded, printed and then coloured.

So please come and join in, we love to see what wonderful creations you have come up with.  And you can also check out what the rest of the Design Team for created for your inspiration.

Happy Stamping!
