Red, White and Blue

This week’s challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges is to use the colour combination of Red, White and/or Blue in any combination you choose.
I have made a fairly quick and easy masculine card using a nautical theme for my project.

The papers are from the Maritime Designer Series Paper (Stampin’ Up!) and I really like the little bit of aqua colour in there to freshen it up a little.
You can see all the other inspiration from the rest of the Design Team here.
Join us with your own projects.  Happy stamping!

Spring!!

Hmmm, well no, it’s not spring here in Australia, although the weather has been lovely and warm and sunny, so I guess it has been spring-like, and there are still plenty of flowers in the garden!
“Spring” is the theme for the new challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges – “We should like to see your projects inspired by ‘Spring’, by the celebration of the passing of winter and the coming of new life and all of those wonderful plans you are making for springtime.”
I have made two cards for this week’s inspiration:

This card uses the cute digital image from Bugaboo, along with some pretty papers from my stash.

And my second card uses some of the beautiful papers from the Painted Blooms Designer Series Papers, combined with the sentiment from Butterfly Basics and some small butterflies stamped and punched, makes for a really quick but pretty card.  The papers are just so gorgeous, I really didn’t want to cut them up.

Make sure you check out the inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, and please share with us your Spring projects.
Happy stamping!

Australian Outback

If you live in Australia, you will be used to seeing these around the country side, even now, many of them rusted and no longer working, but some still going strong.  They are a bit of an Australian icon. So when I found the Australian Outback Collection of Digital images from Make It Crafty, I just had to get them, they are just wonderful for making Masculine cards and all sorts of other projects as well.

WindmillCard
My card today is made for the Clean and Simple Design Team call with Make It Crafty.
I have sized the windmill image to around 6 x 13cm and coloured it using the following Copic markers: W6, W4, W2 and E18.  Here is a close up of the colouring:

I have then layered the coloured image onto a piece of Stampin’ Up! Basic Grey cardstock, and also made the card base from the same colour.  The layer of patterned paper comes from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack (also Stampin’ Up!) and the sentiment comes from one of my all time favourite Stampin’ Up! stamp sets, Wetlands.  Cut a flag into one end of the sentiment strip and a couple of Candy dots at the other end, then adhere with dimensional tape, and it’s done! Simple! And Clean 🙂

Butterflies, butterflies and more butterflies!

This week’s Crafty Boots Challenge is to use butterflies on our projects, so I have! It was a good excuse to use the gorgeous new Butterflies Thinlits Dies – not that I really need an excuse 🙂
My first card uses some of the Painted Blooms Designer Series Papers, which are just sooooooo beautiful.  I didn’t really want to cut it up, but if I don’t it will add to my ever growing stash!

I have cut two butterflies, one from white cardstock and then the top layer from the blue watercoloured paper in the Painted Blooms DSP.  The sentiment comes from the new stamp set (which is bundled with the dies) called Butterfly Basics.

Then I did some colouring with Blendabilities, and decided to make the coloured image into another card with lots of butterflies 🙂

This gorgeous image is from Art By MiRan, the papers retired a loooong time ago, and the flowers are from the above mentioned large stash of crafting goodies, and of course, the butterfly was another cut with my new Thinlits.  Oh, should I mention Faux Stitching?? 🙂  It hasn’t featured a lot recently, so I thought I high time to bring it back!
I hope you like them, and hope they inspire you to join us with your own butterfly creations at Crafty Boots Challenges.

Christmas Tree

Quick post today, with a reminder to share your Christmas cards with us at Crafty Boots Challenges.
Here is another one of mine for you….

Lots of triangles punched out of the Trim the Tree DSP Stack to create the tree, and then I have run the entire layer through the big shot with the Argyle embossing folder to create the lovely textured look.

I must attempt to take photos when the sun is shining, this one is looking a little shadowy, but we have had so much rain, and heaps of storms recently that it has been difficult to find the sun some days.

So, let’s see ’em! We want to see your Christmas cards! 🙂

Mojo Monday 373

A bright and cheery card today, using the sketch from this week’s Mojo Monday sketches:

Mojo373Sketch

A little bit of colouring today, I have stamped the image from For The Birds stamp set, and coloured it using both Blendabilities and Markers.

The layers of patterned papers are both from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Papers, and other than lots of layers, that’s pretty much it! 🙂

August Stamps in Your Letterbox

The feature stamp set for the month of August and for Stamps in Your Letterbox is Kinda Eclectic (Page 164 of the Catalogue). This is a really versatile stamp set and heaps of fun to use, so for those of you who are signed up for Stamps in Your Letterbox, you are in for a treat this month!

Today I am sharing a pouch card which I have made using not only Kinda Eclectic, but also the Envelope Punch Board.  The card fits into one of our standard size envelopes so that you can send it in the mail.

The card itself is a flat card, like a post card, but there is plenty of room for writing on it, and it slides into a decorated pouch made using the Envelope Punch Board.

I have used some of the bright and cheery papers from the Sweet Taffy Designer Series Papers (Page 186), and the “Birthday Greetings” comes from the Four You Stamp Set.  They are a little hard to see in the photo, but I have added a little bling with some Sequins (Page 208) on the butterflies, along with some Thick Baker’s Twine (Page 207) around the top of the card to make it easier to pull the card out of the pouch.

It’s not too late to take part in Stamps in Your Letterbox for August, just contact me to sign up, and you can find out more information here.

August Promotions

This is one of my favourite Stampin’ Up! promotions, I love my patterned papers, they make it so easy to make cards and scrapbook pages look really classy.  So August is a great month to stock up on some of the gorgeous new papers that came out with the new catalogue.

Office Supplies

Our Creative Corner challenge this week from Kim Price is to use Office Supplies on our creation, along with lots of the colour red!  Yes, office supplies, as in staples, post-it notes, string, sticky tape…. you get the idea.

So I went searching to see what I could find that would fit in with those criteria.  My card is inspired by Deb Fearns, a fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and friend from when I was living in Canberra.  Deb has used some of the doilies from the Flirtatious Specialty papers, cut them and coloured them to look like cogs.  I just wanted mine to look a bit like a wheel, but I love this clever idea for using up some retiring bits and pieces.  I have also used the retiring Well Worn DSP, which are fantastic for male cards.
The stamp set is The Open Sea, which becomes available again on the 1st Sept (Yay… love this set!), and I have used string, staples and a clip as my office supplies.

I do hope you will play along with us this week, this challenge is so much fun.  And have a look to see what the rest of the fabulous Design Team have created for some inspiration.
Happy stamping!
