Stampin’ Up! Butterflies and Flowers Layering Decorative Masks – Quick and Easy Card

My Happy Rainbow Card!
We have had some very hot summer days here in my part of Australia, but storms came over last night and today is heavy, humid and very dreary. At least it’s not cold though. And I woke this morning wanting to create something bright and colourful but since I have a lot happening today, it needed to also be quick to make.
So here it is, my Happy Rainbow Card.

My card features the new (available tomorrow!!) Butterflies and Flowers Layering Decorative Masks (that’s a bit of a mouthful) which are sensational and I absolutely love and am enjoying using in heaps of ways.
I seem to be saying that about a lot of things from the new catalogue!
For this card, I have simply placed the daisy mask over a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock (you could use standard white but I find the thick is easier to manage for this), worked out my colour order, grabbed my blending brushes and blended the inks from bottom left to top.
5 minutes from start to finish is not an exaggeration, and it’s so pretty and cheerful.
The colours are inspired by the new Sale-a-Bration FREE Designer Series Paper (which I don’t have yet) called Sunshine and Rainbows – Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay.

I will be doing a Facebook Live on Wed morning – 5th January at 10.30am (EADT Sydney Time) and using these masks to create a card, so please join me. Make sure to Like my page while you are there so that you get notifications of my posts and events.

The Masks will be available from my online store from midnight tonight!
With shipping delays around the world, there are some products that are not going to be available immediately. This is changing daily as items come in, however can I please ask that you understand this is out of my control and also out of the control of Stampin’ Up!, this is a global issue which is effecting the movement of products of all sorts, so there is absolutely nothing we can do to change the situation, other than to enjoy the things we can get, eg these gorgeous masks!

Happy stamping!
Chris

Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Leaves One Layer Card

I was having a play with the Stamparatus today and also wanted to have a last inking of the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set before it retires, although I think this will be one that stays in my stash, at least for a little while.

I have made a Sympathy card (although you could really add any sentiment to this one) in a one layer card, so just thick white cardstock as a card base, no other layers, and stamped directly onto the base.

I have used my Stamparatus grid paper to line up the sentiment and make sure it was very straight. Then used a piece of scrap paper, again, lined up along the grid paper, and then placed the stamped images where I wanted them, inked them up and stamped using the Stamparatus. So easy!!
To create several colours on one stamp, I have stamped in the main colour first, then using a Sponge Dauber, sponged a different colour around the edge or down the centre.
The colours I have used are Merry Merlot, Cajun Craze and Crumb Cake.
The sentiment comes from the Special Moments stamp set, available FREE during Sale-a-Bration starting 4th January 2022. Not long now!
It was a very quick card to make, no cutting layers and lining things up, and it’s much more fun to be getting inky instead of cutting cardstock layers!!

Happy stamping!
Chris

Stampin’ Up! Happy Holly-Days Birthday Card

I have used the Stampin’ Up! Happy Holly-Days stamp set to make a masculine birthday card today, and since today is the first day of 2022, and I am sorting through my stamp sets and taking out the ones that are retiring, I thought I would give my favourites one last inking. Then I realised that I really liked all of the sets that I chose to buy from the retiring catalogue, in fact I will be quite sad to see them go.

I have coloured the bird with the Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Pencils, and while he looks grey in the photos, there is quite a lot of brown in there in real life, so he matches the background a lot better. After colouring the bird, I fussy cut so that I could mount it directly onto the Cork.
Not only have I used my favourite image from this catalogue but also some of my favourite DSP, the Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper and also the Cork Specialty Paper.
I have added a little sneak peek at one of the new stamp sets that I am already having some fun with.
Did you recognise the layout? Page 67 of the retiring Mini Catalogue at the bottom right, featuring this same stamp set as a Christmas card.
Well, here’s to 2022. Out with the old and in with the new!! I hope you are ready for it, I know I am.
Happy stamping!
Chris

Mischievous Mice

Mischievous Mice is another of the new Stampin’ Up! stamp sets, this time a Host set, and so adorable.
I’ll be sharing some of the other images in the set over the coming days, but I have made two cards using the same image today, along with some of the Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper which is one of the free Sale-a-Bration items.

I have stamped the balloon onto the DSP, cut it out, then adhered the cut out balloon over the stamped image.
Aren’t they just so cute?

These are really simple and easy cards to make, great for beginner stampers and heaps of fun.
If you are interested in learning to make cards, stay tuned, I am working on some ideas for a new series of “Cards in the Mail” – it’s been a few years since I did the last one but it was a lot of fun.
I will also be running a Kit “Club” where you can buy one of the Stampin’ Up! kits and we will get together online and make cards, including alternative ideas to make with the kits.
But right now, I am enjoying some down time, so I will have more details in the coming weeks, but feel free to leave a comment if it’s something you would be interested in.
Happy stamping!
Chris

Let’s Set Sail

Stampin’ Up! Let’s Set Sail stamp set is another new set from the upcoming Mini Catalogue (available 4th January 2022), and I have used it for a very simple single layer card, inspired by the latest TGIF challenge, using the Masking Technique.

Masking is such a great technique and one that I haven’t used in a while. For my card I have used the reverse masking technique to create the sun.

I have cut out a circle using one of the Tasteful Label dies, out of a piece of scrap paper.

I’ve then placed the piece of scrap paper over my Basic White card base in the position I want the sun to be, then sponged using Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight inks.

Then I have just removed the scrap paper mask, and stamped the images where I wanted them.

I’m not too happy with my splodgy ink on the sails of the boat, but not to worry, I guess they are wet from sailing!!
Happy stamping!

Stampin’ Up! Friendly Hello CASE

Have you noticed just how much inspiration you can get from the Stampin’ Up! catalogues?
The artwork is next level, and it’s all there, for you. For your inspiration and ideas, and for you to CASE. So what does CASE mean? It means to Copy And Share Everything (meaning to copy the exact card), or to copy elements of the card, such as the layout, the colours, or anywhere in between. And here is an example….
I wanted to CASE the gorgeous card on Page 13 of the Sale-a-Bration catalogue, on the far right, which uses the Friendly Hello stamp set and DSP, but I didn’t have all of the items.

So firstly I realised I had run out of Fresh Freesia cardstock (uh oh, I can feel another order coming on!!), which the original uses as a cardbase. So instead, I used thick Basic White as my card base and added an extra layer of the DSP in the Fresh Freesia colour (from the Friendly Hello DSP).
I don’t have that ribbon, so instead I have used some of the Silver Simply Elegant Trim.
I’m not sure what pearls or rhinestones were used in the original but again, I am using what I have in my stash, so I added some of the gorgeous Pastel Pearls.
And lastly, I am not a fan of the black sentiment panel (just personal preference), so I stamped my sentiment (from the Sale-a-Bration Special Moments stamp set) in Fresh Freesia ink.
They are only small changes, but they have made the card mine.

The stamp set and gorgeous DSP are available from the 4th January. Don’t worry, I won’t let you forget!

Happy CASE-ing!
Chris
PS, if you are feeling stuck and unmotivated, lost your stamping Mojo or just don’t know where to start, CASEing is the way to get through that, in fact, that is how I learnt to make cards and to stamp when I first started out. Have fun!
PPS, Also remember, it is only ink and paper!!

You’re A Peach

Today I have been playing with the Embossing Paste for the first time, trying a few things out and experimenting, which is always fun.

This card is made up almost entirely of the You’re a Peach Designer Series Paper, with the only stamping being the sentiment.

Behind the peaches, on the green background, I have created a little bit of texture by putting some of the paste directly onto the DSP through one of the Decorative Masks. It’s quite subtle but adds just a little extra interest. Here’s a close up…

All the peaches and flowers were fussy cut from the Designer Series Paper.

So there is my first play with the paste. Stay tuned for some more!!

Happy stamping!

Chris

Sweet Sailing Kitties

A quick post today to share a giggle… This is the card I made for my son for Christmas. Since he loves to sail, it had to have sailing boats included….

We have three cats, a big part of our family, who we both adore, so the kitty faces from Sweet Little Stockings was another obvious choice. Combine the two things and our three rascal cats are sailing with their Santa hats on. I had some fun creating this one.

The proportions are not quite right but its pretty cute anyway.

In the background, the water is the new Gentle Waves background stamp, and the boats from the Let’s Set Sail stamp set and matching punch, all available from the 4th January 2022 in the new Mini Catalogue.

The kitties and their hats were coloured with the Stampin’ Up! Watercolour pencils.

Happy stamping!

Chris

Handmade Notebooks

I made these Notebooks from scratch as gifts for my wonderful customers who have supported me throughout the year.
Each book has Designer Series Paper on the outside and inside of the cover, with stamped pages which can be replaced when the old ones have all been used up.

The papers on the notebook above is the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper, and the one below uses the Host Rewards DSP called Pattern Party.

Both of these Notebooks feature the Friendly Hello stamp set (available 4th January through my online store as a free Sale-a-Bration reward for orders of $180 or more) and the Scalloped Contours Dies.
I hope your Christmas was extra special and that you are having some time to relax and recover today.
Happy stamping!
Chris

Happy Christmas!!

Just a quick post to share with you a cute little gift bag that I made last week to put some gifts into. These are pretty easy to make and just use one sheet of Designer Series Paper.

I have used the Whimsy and Wonder Designer Series Paper with it’s pretty colours and designs. And the one below features the Sweet Stockings DSP.

I hope you are having a wonderful, blessed day and enjoying time with family and friends.
Happy Christmas!
Chris
