Winter Wonderland Christmas Cards

Winter Wonderland is the theme this week at Crafty Boots Challenges.
I know a lot of people in Australia think it’s wrong to have Christmas cards made with winter themes and snowmen, but I think a lot of us have friends and relatives who live in other countries where it is snowing at this time of year.  I know I do.  So I have made a couple of “snowy” Christmas cards.

This first card uses the Lovely as a Tree stamp set – an oldie but a goodie, especially when it comes to snow-laden wintery trees.  I have stamped everything in Versamark ink onto some Silver Foil and heat embossed with White embossing powder, then layered the Silver Foil onto some white cardstock.  Simple, but effective.  And it’s flat, no bulky bits that stick out, so can easily be posted off without Mr Postie getting cranky!

The second card is again, predominantly white and silver, this time the trees have been stamped in Silver ink, and the cute little bird from For the Birds stamp set, has been stamped in Memento ink and coloured with Blendabilities.  I think he is off to decorate those silver trees. 🙂

And in other news, we have a couple of cheeky new members of our family….. here is one of them trying to “help” me type up this post 🙂

Happy stamping!

Everyday Occasions Christmas

I whipped up this Christmas card very quickly earlier, using one of the card bases and some elements from the Everyday Occasions Kit, which you can find on Page 196 of the current Annual Catalogue.

The card is the same as one of the pre-designed cards, and to make it “Christmassy”, I have just punched out a tree, and a star, stamped a sentiment, and there it is….done!  Very quick!  The Christmas tree is punched out of the Under the Tree DSP, and the “Merry Christmas” comes from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.

Masculine Star Card

Continuing on with our current Star theme at Crafty Boots Challenges, this week I have a masculine card to share with you.

I know a lot of people find masculine cards difficult to make, to be honest though, I really enjoy making them, and I know a lot of men enjoy getting lovely handmade cards, just as much as the ladies do 🙂

The background of the card uses some Sahara Sand cardstock which has been run through the Big Shot inside the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder.  I have then sponged some Basic Grey ink over the raised areas.  The stars have been cut out using the Stars Framelits, and the birthday greeting comes from Itty Bitty Banners stamp set.  Just a couple of small finishing touches – some Candy Dots which seem to be getting used a lot at the moment, and some paper piercing around the stars.

I do hope you will pop on over the the Crafty Boots Challenge Blog and check out all the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, and why not make a starry project to share with us?  We would love to see it!

Happy stamping!

Mojo Monday 373

A bright and cheery card today, using the sketch from this week’s Mojo Monday sketches:

Mojo373Sketch

A little bit of colouring today, I have stamped the image from For The Birds stamp set, and coloured it using both Blendabilities and Markers.

The layers of patterned papers are both from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Papers, and other than lots of layers, that’s pretty much it! 🙂

Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge

This week’s Just Add Ink challenge is this great sketch:

JAISketch_2008

For my card, I have used just the leaf stamp from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set, along with some markers in different colours, to create the lovely autumn coloured background.

I stamped a couple of extra leaves and then fussy cut them and placed them to frame the sentiment, along with a couple of Candy Dots.
I like this sketch, maybe I will make a Christmas card as well 🙂

Remembrance Day Projects

Just reminder of the fabulous challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges this week, don’t be scared of this one, there are so many possibilities……. just make something to remember someone by.

Here is a Scrapbook page that I have made using a really old photo of my Mum when she was very young and my Grandma, just a lovely way to remember two wonderful people who had a huge influence in my creativity.

Lots of goodies out of my stash in this page, including some gorgeous crocheted lace which I think was originally in my Mum’s stash of crafting goodies.

And I couldn’t resist the temptation to do a little more colouring with my Blendabilities, so thought I would make a Poppy themed card.

I didn’t own a Poppy stamp, so went looking around online and found this lovely image which I downloaded, printed and then coloured.

So please come and join in, we love to see what wonderful creations you have come up with.  And you can also check out what the rest of the Design Team for created for your inspiration.

Happy Stamping!

Sketch Challenge

I have been enjoying doing some colouring in the last few days, I find colouring very relaxing!  So I thought I would make a card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.
Here is the sketch:

I have used my Blendabilities to colour the Sweetbriar Rose which I stamped with Black Memento Ink.

I wanted this card to be nice and colourful, so I have borrowed the colour combination from the Sweet Taffy DSP – Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, and Rich Razzleberry.  The piece of yellow striped paper is, of course, from Sweet Taffy DSP, and just some white baker’s twine and button, and some yellow candy dots to finish it off.

Festival of Trees Tags

Very quick post today, I just wanted to share with you some ChristmasTags I made recently, using the Festival of Trees stamps and matching punch.

Festival of Trees

Such a cute set, and very easy to make lots of Christmas gift packaging and cards.
Promise I’ll be back with more soon!

Just Add Ink Challenge

This week’s challenge at Just Add Ink is this gorgeous bright and cheerful photo, full of rainbow colours.

So I really had to use a rainbow on my card 🙂

I adore this cute little image from the Life’s Adventure Hostess stamp set, and thought he would look quite cute sitting under a rainbow.  I have coloured the image using a Blender pen and ink, then stamped the rainbow using the Work of Art stamp set.  Then there are just a few small finishing touches which are not so easy to see in the photo….. I have done some paper piercing around the edge but only where the cardstock is still white, so not over the rainbow.  And then added some rain drops using Crystal Effects.
Hope your weekend is crafty!

Make My Monday Tags and Toppers

Today’s card is a something a little different, for me at least.  I found yet another new challenge and thought it would be fun to play along, but I wanted to do something completely different.  The challenge is from Make My Monday Challenges, and it is to use Tags and Toppers.

So I have used a stamp set that is not in the catalogue, just to confuse you! 🙂 Actually, it was part of a promotion which Stampin’ Up! ran recently for demonstrators, and which I got for free (just one of the many perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator!!)  The stamp set is called “Good Greeting” and has heaps of fabulous and useful greetings, not just Christmas ones.
So, I have stamped the greetings around the white layer of cardstock, and then run this layer through the Big shot with the star embossing folder (a bit of a sneak peek, even though you can’t really see it very well in this card).
I have then made a tag and punched the top with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, and used some Washi Tape to decorate the tag.  The colours I have used are real red, Pool Party and Crushed Curry.
And that’s it really, pretty easy 🙂

If you would like to find out how you can also earn the Good Greeting stamp set for free, get in touch with me and I’ll give you the details.

Happy stamping!
