Dynamic Duos #42

The first thing I thought of when I saw these colours was yellow flowers and green leaves, and then decided that was a pretty obvious choice so wanted to do something different, and decided I would continue with my masculine themed cards, although this particular technique could definitely be used on any cards.

The different pieces of cardstock have been punched or cut out and then stuck onto the base piece using either glue or double sided tape, and then the whole piece has been run through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  It looks like the pieces are embedded into the background piece, a little like patchwork.
I have used the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set for the greeting on each card as I wanted them to be small and insignificant in relation to the geometric shapes.
Here are the cards individually:

Lots of inspiration for you from the rest of the Design Team again this week.

A Scrap Page….

… finally!!  Yes, I finally started and completed a scrap page today.
In the last two years I have only done one scrap page and even that one I wasn’t particularly happy with.  My mojo has been completely lost when it came to scrapping, but today I decided it was time…. yep, time to force myself to make just one page.

This is the thing I love so much about Stampin’ Up!, everything is so well coordinated that it makes it just so much easier to make something quickly and easily without too much difficulty (unless your mojo is MIA), so once I got into the swing of it, things fell into place pretty easily.  What do you think…..?

I have used the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Papers for this page, and just matched up the colours for my card stock, except for the base which is Sahara Sand.  And keeping in line with my obsession with paper piercing I have used the template to pierce some circles – I like the contrast of the different shapes and geometrical patterns.
This page is 8 x 8 inches, and because I have used a smaller size for this page, I didn’t want to have journalling visible, so I have cut a tag using the Two Tags Die, layered some vanilla card stock on top and attached some Linen Thread. And yes, even the journalling is finished!
Did you realise that if you turned those pieces of patterned paper over, it would make a lovely feminine page?  Stampin’ Up! are so clever at this stuff…… 🙂

I just wanted to thank all of you for the lovely messages about my mishap on the weekend, my thumb is fine and healing up nicely, although still quite painful.  Not painful enough to stop me from stamping though 🙂  Thanks again, I really appreciate your kind thoughts.

Well, you never know, I just may have turned the scrapping corner, and you may just get to see a few more of these soon 🙂
Happy stamping!

Bordering on Romance CASE

I wanted to make a card for our lovely neighbour who has been unwell for some time and recently had an operation, and when I saw the “August” card in this fabulous line up of cards on Kathy Tanners blog, I just knew I had to CASE it!
It’s also been a while since I did some serious water colouring and thought it would be a good time to get some practice in.

100_8368

I did however do the watercolouring on Whisper White card stock.  Watercolouring with inks works best on watercolour paper…. yes, really…. 🙂 as it absorbs the water, whereas the Whisper White card stock can’t absorb as much and can easily become scuffed up.  So I have used a Blender pen and added the colour as quickly as possible and with as few strokes of the brush as possible.  Nevertheless I am not entirely happy with how it turned out.  More practice required!

So I made another one…….

I just love purple!

There is a third one, but you will have to wait a few days to see it! 🙂  and you never know, I may feel inspired to make a fourth 🙂
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Happy Stamping!

Stampin’ Royalty Challenge #156

I thought it was time I did some stamping for the enjoyment of it, so I have gone looking at some of the challenge sites that I used to frequent regularly, and today I have made a card for the latest challenge from Stampin’ Royalty.

Here is the sketch:

And here is the card I have made:

I have a few bits and pieces which arrived just before my move, and which have not been used, so definitely time to start using some of them 🙂  I have used the Summer Afternoon Hostess stamp set along with some of the Fan Fair patterned papers, which are just gorgeous!

I will be back over the next few days with more creations and with some updates for classes etc for the new year.  In the meantime, happy stamping!

Dynamic Duos #33

So my second challenge card for today, and I have made a card inspired by my lovely and very talented friend Deb Fearns.  Deb recently showed me a gorgeous little box that she had made using the Natural Composition Specialty papers, and it inspired me to find the papers and use them in this card.

This week’s Dynamic Duos challenge is to use the colours Black and Gold and also a music theme.

100_8249

So I have used the music notes from the Natural Composition Specialty papers, which I have applied black ink directly to, and then just rubbed it over with a tissue to get rid of the excess ink.  With the gold coloured foil (non-Stampin’ Up!) behind, it makes the music look gold as well.
Once again I have used the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and have hand cut around the ornament once it was embossed with gold powder.  I then die cut the Very Vanilla ornament so that I could layer one over the other.  And the greeting is from the Joyous Celebrations stamp set.

Make sure you check out the rest of the gorgeous projects from the very talented Design Team here.

Well, that’s all from me for now.  If I don’t have a chance to post more before Christmas, I hope you all have a wonderful, safe and happy Christmas.
Happy Stamping!

Candy Canes

I promised yesterday that I would share the decorated Candy Canes that I have been making, so here they are…

I have used the same things as I did on the card from yesterday.  I am looking forward to hanging these on the Christmas tree this year.

Well, just a short post today, but I do have lots of things to share with you, so promise to be back real soon.
Happy Stamping!

The Tango

There are some colours within the Stampin’ Up! colour families that I don’t often use, most of them seem to be yellows and oranges, so I took this week’s Dynamic Duos Challenge of using the colours Tangerine Tango and Old Olive.  Now, Old Olive is a long time favourite, but combining it with Tangerine  Tango, hmmmm.
But I am glad I had a go at this one, I am pleased with how it turned out and think I may be using this colour a little more from now on.
The image is from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set, which has been coloured with markers.  And I have used the Two Tags die and the Apothecary Accents Framelits, both very useful and versatile.

I hope this inspires you to have a go at using a different colour combination.
Happy stamping!

Freshly Made Sketches #55

I took some time out this afternoon to do some creating just for the fun of it, and thought I would have a go at this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  I also thought it was time I got on and made some Christmas cards, since it won’t  be long before Christmas is here.

I have used a few new goodies for this card, the patterned papers come from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack, they are gorgeous and great for card making (Page 20 of the Holiday Catalogue). The embossing folder is also new and is called Northern Flurry (Page 189 Annual Catalogue).  The stamp set is For the Birds (Page 34 of the Annual catalogue) – a fabulously versatile set with something for just about every occasion.  And the Cotton Ribbon and Slide are from the Holiday Catalogue.
Here is the sketch that I have used:
If you have any questions about how I have made this card, or if you would like to place an or

Hope you had a crafty weekend.

Another Blog Hop!!

Hope that you’ve all been enjoying the gorgeousness of the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue.  The Holiday Catalogue also went live on the 1st of September, but we thought we’d give you a couple of weeks to get into it before we bombarded you with the beautiful things the Holiday Catalogue brings!!!

So another Artful Stampers Hop ~ this time to celebrate the Holiday Catalogue Launch!

You may have hopped here from Melissa at Bee Devine Designs, but if you are just starting here, keep hopping on through.  I’m stop 4 on the Hop and I’m glad you’re here sharing in the fun!!There are lots of gorgeous Christmas goodies in the Holiday Catalogue, but I thought I would showcase something different.  So, my projects for today all use the Orchard Harvest suite on pages 28-30 of the Holiday

Catalogue.  I am making these for my sister, who has a property with heaps of apple trees.  Eventually they want to open a cidery, so I thought I should keep her inspired with these gifts.  She doesn’t spend much time on her computer, so here’s hoping she won’t check out my blog and see them before she gets them!!I have used the Orchard Harvest patterned papers and the Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set for the card and the cute little box.  The box also uses the Cannery Set Framelits Dies which match the Perfectly Preserved stamp set.  Love how Stampin’ Up! match everything up.  These also come as a bundle to save you even more money!  Love it!
And I have made a Lavender Bag and Coaster, both of which use the Orchard Harvest Designer Fabric. Unfortunately the fabrics didn’t have apples on them, so I had to use pears instead!
I have a few other things to make to add to this collection, but I have been away for the last few days so haven’t had a chance to get it all done.  But I’ll share them all with you before I send them off to my sister.

Now it’s time to visit Anna for the next stop on our Hop. I am sure you will find lots of wonderful ideas to inspire you. And in case you get lost or there are broken links just pop back here for the full list of stampers taking part in this hop.

Don’t forget to leave comment love as you trip along the hop from blog to blog. We like to know what you think about the things we’ve been doing!!  And if you have any questions please feel free to send me an email.

Happy stamping, and I hope you find lots to inspire you!

Spring is here!

And I have made a card to celebrate spring!  This one uses the gorgeous Betsy’s Blossom stamp set along with a new set of patterned papers called Floral District.  The main image uses the “kissing” technique and has then been punched out using the Postage Stamp punch.
If you would like instructions on how to make this card, along with all of the bits and pieces needed to make it, just join my Stamp of the Month Club.  All the details can be found here and feel free to send me an email if you have any questions.
