Festive Flurry

Today I was fortunate to be able to share my love of stamping and creating with a group of ladies who get together and craft every week.  They requested something for Christmas, so we made some cards and decorated a box using the Festive Flurries stamp set,(Wood #131778, Clear #131781) and matching Framelits Dies (#132193), (Bundle – Wood #133284, Clear #133285)
The first card was this one:

The colours I have chosen are Smokey Slate, Pool Party and Island Indigo.  The Smokey Slate is a lot darker than it looks here, so all we did was to stamp off the ink before stamping it onto the cardstock, which makes it a lovely silvery grey.
Then we added a “belly band” to one of the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes (#130927):

And our third project was another card, this one using the Starburst technique.

Here we also used some of the gorgeous Winter Frost Specialty papers (#132341), which are just so pretty, and a small piece of the Silver Foil Sheets (#132178).
I am usually a traditional girl when it comes to Christmas colours, but this year I am just loving these colours.  Nice to have a change sometimes 🙂
I am also loving these Festive Flurries…. yep, plenty more of those coming your way!
Happy stamping!
Chris

Special Season

I haven’t really fallen of the face of the earth, just been rather busy…. a trip to the US in October, a bit of break from crafting and now it’s time to share some of the many creations I have been making over the last couple of weeks.
I absolutely love the Special Season stamp set in the current Seasonal Catalogue, and it has had a work out since it arrived!
Last night I held the first of two Christmas Stamp-a-Stacks, featuring… yes, you guessed it Special Season (Wood #131766, Clear #131769) combined with the traditional colours of the Season of Style DSP (#132340) papers.  Here are the cards that we made:

The sentiment on this first card comes from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set (Wood #130042, Clear #120024), which is framed with some of the Gold Foil Sheets (#132622).  You can be sure you will be seeing some more of the Gold and Silver foil, its a great way to add a touch of something special!

We had a lovely night, lots of laughs, and lots of stamping… what more can you ask for? 🙂
My next Stamp-a-Stack in on Wed  11th December at  7.30pm, so if you live in the Canberra area and would like to come along, send me an email.
I do have a lot more to share with you, but I think it can wait for another post.
If you would like to order any of the items I have used in these cards, you can do so here, just click on the “Shop Now” button at the bottom of the page.  And please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Happy Stamping!

More Triple Time Stamping!

I thought I would show you the cards we made last week in the Triple Time Stamping classes, I really enjoyed making these as did those who attended.  So pay attention if you missed out, you could have come along and made these too!! 🙂

We started off making a Christmas card……  yes, Christmas… it’s never too early to start your collection of lovely handmade Christmas cards.

This one uses the stamp set Lovely as a Tree, and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  It could, of course be a masculine birthday card rather than a Christmas card, but in any case the idea was to introduce the Triple Stamping technique with just two layers of stamped cardstock to see how it all goes together.

The second card uses the gorgeous Swallowtail stamp, combined with Papillon Potpourri, and the colours Pool Party and Island Indigo.

And last but not least, a masculine card which uses The Open Sea stamp set, and in the background some patterned paper from the Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Papers, and the Cloudy Day embossing folder.

This is such a great technique and creates gorgeous and unusual cards.  I have a couple more that I have made as samples that I will share with you soon.
Happy stamping!
Chris

Freshly Made Sketches #65

Sharing a card today that I have made for my sister, who owns a farm with lots of apple trees.  And I have used the sketch from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches.

I have used a combination of the Perfectly Preserved and Polar Party Stamp Sets, along with the Be Of Good Cheer patterned papers in some traditional Christmas colours.
Here is the sketch:

Hope you are finding time to do some Christmas stamping too.

Purple and Silver

This week at Our Creative Corner it is my turn to set the challenge, and I have chosen a colour theme, using my favourite colour Purple, along with Silver, you can use other colours as well, just as long as purple and silver are the feature colours for your project.  Our Creative Corner will taking a break over Christmas and it is our last challenge before our break, so lets make it a Christmas project as well.

I have had fun with the Big Shot and embossing this week on my card.  I have used a stamp from the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set which I have heat embossed with silver powder onto Elegant Eggplant card stock and then cut out with the Holiday Ornaments Dies.  The silver layer is some of the gorgeous Glimmer paper cut using the Apothecary Accents Framelits, and for the white layer I have used the Adorning Accents Edgelits and the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  The greeting comes from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments Stamp Set and I have used a little bit of Pink Pirouette card stock for some interest and some non-Stampin’ Up! ribbon that I found in my stash!

Happy Stamping!

Stitching and Fabric

Our challenge this week at Our Creative Corner is to create a project which uses some stitching and fabric.  Stitching can be done on the sewing machine or faux stitching, and the fabric could be used in any part of the project, either as an embellishment, or as I have done, an entire panel.

Again, I am sewing machine-less… that is, without sewing machine…. so I had to use “faux stitching” on my card.  Faux stitching is one of my favourite’s, so it wasn’t a chore, actually I think I may have got a little carried away with it, what do you think?  That’s all faux stitching around the outside of the greeting and the lines along the top and bottom of “Season’s Greetings”, plus there is some around the red star, it’s just a bit hard to see in the photo.

I stuck with some traditional Christmas colours for this one, and have used a non Stampin’ Up! embossing folder which has been sitting unused for some time now.  The Christmas tree looks a bit lumpy in the photo, but I have just used some cotton wool behind it to make it puff out a little.

The Christmas Tree was cut out of the white panel of card stock using the Holiday Collection Framelits die, and the fabric is from the Orchard Harvest Designer Fabrics.  And the greeting is from the Welcome Christmas stamp set.

If you have any questions about how I made my card, please feel free to send me an email.  And you can see what the rest of the Design Team have made  for this challenge here. We do hope you will give this one a go and join in the fun, we love to see what you have created using our challenges.
Next week is my challenge, so make sure you come back to see what I have for you, and it is also our final challenge for the year, as we are taking a well earned break over Christmas.

Happy Stamping!
Chris

Dynamic Duos #31

Yes I did manage to get some stamping done this week…. 🙂  let’s just call it a limited supplies challenge though!

I have unpacked a lot of my stamping supplies now, but when I was trying to get this card made, I only had a few things unpacked, so had to make the most of what was available.  As a result, I am not happy with this card, and certainly would have made something completely different if I had had all my supplies available.

Make sure you check out the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, and since I am sure you can do much better than this with these colours, why not make a card or project of your own and share it with us this week?  We would love to see what you can come up with.

Hope you are having a crafty weekend.  Happy stamping!
Chris
