Welcome back to the Annual Catalogue sketches, today we are on Sketch number 13.
My card today is an ocean scene which I am not entirely happy with, but that happens. Even those of us who are demonstrators and do a lot of papercrafting make things that we are not happy with. Anyone else make cards they want to throw in the bin sometimes?
You may have noticed that I love, love, love decorative masks, stencils and sponging, I love the look and the amount of different ways they can be used to create and decorate. I also love colouring. So my card today is a mixture of both of these. Cute little birdie, along with the branch and leaves from the Bird’s Eye View stamp set has been coloured with Watercolour Pencils before I used Wink of Stella to blend the colours and add a bit of sparkle. They have all been fussy cut and glued to the front of my card. And the strip of gorgeous Afternoon Azure colour down the left hand side has been masked off with Masking Paper and sponged with Blending Brushes before I added one of the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks over the top, and sponged a little more, for some tone on tone colour to brighten the card up.
Below is the video of how I made the card.
The gorgeous Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks are new and now available in the Mini Catalogue, along with a stack of other new goodies, including Christmas products.
Make sure you head on over the The Crafty Addicts site to check out what the Design Team have created for this month.
This week on the Colour Creations Blog Hop, we are featuring Cajun Craze. I have mostly used Cajun Craze as a fantastic colour for masculine cards, so today I am doing something a little different with it. I have used the Colorful Kaleidoscope Kit, and paired some of the kit elements with some Cajun Craze. I think it really helps the colours in the kit to pop. The Colorful Kaleidoscope Kit contains some gorgeous die cut layers, and I have used one of these on the reverse side, as a mask, which I have sponged through to create a subtle tone on tone background in Cajun Craze for both my cards. For the first card, I have then used the die cut mask on the front of my card. Behind the die cut panel is some white cardstock which has been sponged in Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral and Petal Pink to create an ombre effect.
The second card uses some of the beautiful, colourful inside of one of the envelopes included in the kit.

This week’s Colour Creations Blog Hop is featuring my favourite of all the Stampin’ Up! colours, Blackberry Bliss. My card this week features the Gorgeously Made Dies, combined with the Aspen Tree Dies.
I have used the Foursquare Decorative Masks to blend a very light layer of Blackberry Bliss ink onto the background, and have also used the blender brushes to colour the leaves from the Aspen Tree Dies, using Blackberry Bliss, Real Red and Mossy Meadow inks.
Next on our Blog Hop is the very talented Tina Gillespie.

This morning’s Facebook Live is now available to watch both on Facebook and YouTube.
As you can see, the Cottage Wreaths stamp set and matching dies are great for cards of all occasions, as well as Christmas. I hope you enjoy watching the video, although I have to apologise for being quite distracted towards the end, one of my cats could hear me talking but couldn’t work out where I was and was getting quite vocal. Cheeky little rascal.
The kits to make the three cards are available for free to anyone who places a $30 order in my online store before midnight this coming Sunday 30th July (shipping extra). The kits will be sent out separately to your order. And just a reminder that due to Stampin’ Up! policy, I am unable to stamp images to include in the kits – that means you get to do the fun stuff! Don’t have the Cottage Wreaths stamp set? Try the cards with a different stamp set, that’s part of making creativity fun. Alternatively, you can order the stamp set and dies by clicking on the images below. Happy stamping, Chris
This morning’s Facebook Live online class featured this absolutely divine stamp set, called Night of Flight. You might have missed this one, it on Page 172 and is a Host set. You can find the video here on YouTube, or on my Facebook Page.
The class kits are now available for this class, simply place an order of $30 or over from my online store this week (before midnight on Sunday 23rd July) and you will receive the precut cards in the mail. (Australia only). Disclaimer: Stampin’ Up! policy means that I am unable to stamp any of the images.
If you need a little more incentive to place an order this week, tomorrow (Wednesday 19th July 2023) Stampin’ Up! have a one day promotion where you can receive 15% off any stamp set in the Annual Catalogue (not including the host sets).
AND, on top of all of that, there is the Bonus Days promotion. Tomorrow will be a very good day to order some stamp sets!
This week’s Colour Creations featured colour is Basic Gray, a colour I often overlook but which is such a versatile colour. And I love it with Fresh Freesia, which I have used for my cards today.
My first card is very simple, with the tree image from Happy Hedgehogs stamp set, stamped in Basic Gray and the butterfly in Fresh Freesia.
I’ve then stepped the card up by colouring the tree with Stampin’ Blends. Yes, you can colour with Stampin’ Blends when the outline image is stamped with a waterbased ink, as long as you don’t blend the outline ink. I don’t use the brush end of the Stampin’ Blends for this, and keep the colouring very simple.
I have used Stampin’ Blends in Fresh Freesia, Daffodil Delight (for the flower centres) and Shaded Spruce. I’ve also added a strip of Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper in Fresh Freesia behind the main panel, and added some silver dots for some bling.
My second card also features the Happy Hedgehogs stamp set, this time the cute little birdie.
The card base is Basic Gray again for this card, and for the background, I have used one of the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks and a Blending Brush and Basic Gray ink, very lightly brushed on to create a subtle background. The bird is stamped in Basic Gray and coloured in the same way as the second card. The circles were Die cut using the unfortunately retired Stitched Shapes Dies.
We made these cards today in my monthly Card Class, which was a lot of fun.

We are creating projects using the gorgeous neutral Pecan Pie for this week’s blog hop, and I have chosen the sweet koala image for the Wild and Sweet stamp set for my projects. The first card I am sharing is a very simple one, great for those just starting out in cardmaking and stamping.
I have used a card base of Pecan Pie, with a strip of gingham in the same colour from the Glorious Gingham Designer Series Paper. The white panel is die cut using the Deckled Rectangle Dies, and the koala stamped in Pecan Pie ink. I’ve added a couple of gold adhesive backed dots from the Festive Pearls for a finishing touch.
My second card uses the same elements, and Pecan Pie cardstock base, this time with a strip of the gingham down the right hand side. I’ve used some of the Fluid 100 Watercolour paper with a water brush, and added some Balmy blue and Mossy Meadow ink across the paper. Then once it dried, I have again stamped the koala in Pecan Pie ink, and added some Linen Thread. The focal panel and the gingham layer have all been sponged with Blending Brushes around the edges with Pecan Pie ink.
If you would like to watch the video of how to make the second card you can find it on my youTube channel. You can get a better idea of the colours in the video. I will also be uploading it to my new facebook group. It is a very new group and I would love to have more of you join us at The Dotty Stampers.

Don’t forget there are only a few more days to make the most of the fantastic June promotions, 15% off Designer Series Paper, and a wonderful joining offer if you join my team, which you can find details of here.
You may have seen my blog post from yesterday where I mentioned having taken part in a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator only event, where we made projects using the Translucent Florals Bundle (currently only available to demonstrators who took part in the event). Today I am sharing the second project we were given to make. I didn’t put together the first card in this series, preferring the stepped up version, and even then I made my own adjustments.
A mask was made using some of the leaf dies from bundle, and this was used to add texture paste to the card base. However, before applying the texture paste, I lightly sponged some Gray Granite ink directly to the cardbase, and using the same coloured Stampin’ Write marker, outlined the edge of the sponged leaves and added some veins. The sentiment is stamped in Copper Clay, with a tiny strip of Copper Clay cardstock along the bottom edge of the sentiment. And because I really liked the Copper Clay with these colours, I have added some of the In Color Dots. And here is my alternative idea for this project.
For this card I have added a white layer (cut with the Deckled Rectangle Dies) over the Gray Granite cardbase, which gives it a brighter look, and had an odd shaped scrap of Garden Green cardstock which I have cut down and added behind the white to the top corner. Again, I have sponged some leaves, this time in Garden Green ink, before adding the green die cut leaves over the top.
As you can see, we had a lot of fun at our Creativity Now Demonstrator event. You can take part in these events too, there is a wonderful opportunity this month to join at a great price with a lot of extras, so all you need to do is to take the plunge and make the most of that opportunity. You won’t regret it. Reach out to me if you would like to chat more about it. (Australian residents only, please).
This week’s Colour Creations Blog Hop features the gorgeous blue, Azure Afternoon. It reminds of the sky on a clear day here in my beautiful part of Australia. I will share a photo later and you will see what I mean. But first to my card.
I have kept my card quite simple, using the Foursquare Decorative Masks and Blending Brushes to create a background, and then stamping and punching out the boat, which is the Let’s Set Sail stamp set, and matching Sailboat Builder punch. And I’ve used some Starry Sky ink for the boat and sentiment and cardstock for the frame for my boat.
I made this card for my wonderful 17 year old son, he has had so much going on over the last few months, some amazing things, and some disappointments as well. So I really wanted to give him a few words of encouragement to keep believing in himself and in his dreams.
I’ve been wanting to get back into some Scrapbooking / Smashbooking / Scrap Journalling for some time now, and when I was tidying and reorganising my craft space recently, I came across one of the 6 x 8 Albums which are on Page 135 of the Annual Catalogue, and I decided it was time to use it and create some pages to fill it. So here is the first one, based around the card above.
The only addition I have made, is to use some of the Let’s Go Fishing DSP and some Linen Thread. The opposite page will have the journalling. You may have noticed there is something missing from the page. I went to get the photo developed that I wanted to use for this, plus some other’s for the next couple that I am planning, only to find that the only place that used to develop photos in my town, no longer does it. So I will have to use an online service and get the photos sent to me. One of the down sides to living in regional areas. However, the photo below shows the upside to living where we do.
This is a photo of my son sailing his boat on the lake near to where we live, and that sky is a beautiful Azure Afternoon colour. This is the photo that will eventually go on the page, once I get the photo developed.
Next along on our blog hop this evening is Kate Morgan.
