Dynamic Duos #40

This week’s colour challenge from Dynamic Duos is to use the colours Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black, what a stunning combination!  As an extra option, you can use clouds on your creation, however I chose not to with this week’s challenge.

I used this combination to make hubbies Valentine’s card, rather than traditional colours, but wanted to do something a little different, so I have made a swing card.  I haven’t attempted these before, and was quite pleased with how it turned out, however it does make it rather difficult to photograph!  So I apologise in advance for the photo, really doesn’t do it justice.

I have used the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and the matching Framelits Dies (current Seasonal Catalogue, Page 11), and also included one of the “Love” tickets from the Artisan Embellishments Kit ( current Seasonal Catalogue, Page 10).  And I have used the cute little hearts from the Henry Says stamp set.

I do hope you join us again this week.  Lots of inspiration again from the rest of the wonderful Design Team.

Happy Stamping!

Dynamic Duos #39

Gorgeous colour combination this week, one that I just love…. Pink Pirouette and Pool Party – yes of course, lovely girly colours 🙂

Too many ideas came to mind with this combination so it’s probably a good thing that it has been a busy week and I haven’t had much time to make the hundreds of different ideas I had!  I did, however, once again use Everything Eleanor again for this week’s card.  I do apologise for my current obsession, I promise to try to use something different for next week’s creation.

I have used the embossing folder called Holiday Frame (not currently available, but you never know if it might be in the future….) which is supposed to be a Christmas one, it has a little Christmas tree, but if you turn it side ways and cover up the Christmas tree with leaves, no one would ever know!  I just think it is really pretty and works well as an oval frame.
I have then used the oval from the Designer Frames Folders in Pool Party which has been cut out by hand.  The greeting is from You Are Loved and punched out using the large Oval Punch.  Flowers from Everything Eleanor have been cut by hand and layered.  Some lovely seam binding ribbon, leaves and a gorgeous Vintage Brad and for some reason I am still not entirely pleased with how this card turned out.  Oh well, lots of other ideas running around for these colours, so I can always make something else 🙂

Make sure you check out the inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, and please share your creations with us, we love to see what you have come up with.
Happy stamping!

Dynamic Duos #38

I found these colours a bit of a challenge this week…

so I have added quite a lot of neutral to it, but of course, once I had made my card, I had a whole heap of other ideas.  I will just have to share those with you another time! 🙂

My card this week uses one of the gorgeous Doilies from the Seasonal Catalogue that have just been released.  I have stamped straight onto the doily using the swirl from the Everything Eleanor stamp set, in Pretty in Pink and Sahara Sand. It may be a little hard to see in the photo but there are also some of the swirls stamped onto the Sahara Sand background, which I then ran through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  The flowers have been inked and then hand cut, and the red flower has been coated with Crystal Effects to give it a nice shiny finish.
Heaps of inspiration again from the Design Team this week, so make sure you have a look.

I am a little late with posting this today, I had a bit of an incident with some glass and my thumb.  No serious damage done but it was a pretty nasty cut and slowed me up a little yesterday for a while.  Won’t stop me from stamping, or blogging! 🙂

Happy stamping!

Dynamic Duos #37

More Masculine cards from me again today!  I thought the colours would lend themselves nicely to masculine cards, but then I have seen all the beautiful flowery cards from some of the other Design Team members…… just gorgeous!  Make sure you check them out here.

I started off just making one card, using the Dapper Dad stamp set, (which will be available from the 1st Feb ), and then thought I may as well make a set of matching cards.

Here they are individually, so that you can see them in more detail.

In my previous post, I started on some tips for making masculine cards.  So here is another one… I guess this might be obvious from the cards I have made here, dry embossing (using Textured Impressions Embossing folders) make great backgrounds for masculine cards, giving lots of texture and interest.  Great ones to keep in mind are the one I have used here, which is the Argyle, Square Lattice, Houndstooth, Perfect Polka Dots, Woodgrain (one of my favourites!), Chevron, Stripes, and definitely Spider Web.  You can change the entire look of a card just by using a different embossing folder in the background.  Give it a try and see what you like best.
You’ll be pleased to hear that there are more great embossing folders coming in the new Seasonal Catalogue – Cloudy Day, and Honeycomb, both of which would work just fine on a masculine card (available from Feb 1st).

I do hope you will join us this week with this gorgeous colour challenge, we love to see what you have come up with, so make sure you share your work with us 🙂
Happy Stamping!

Dynamic Duos #36

Time for another colour challenge at the Dynamic Duos blog, and this week is Real Red and Basic Black with the option of a Valentine Theme.

I have to admit that my Mojo is well and truly MIA at present, so nothing is easy when it comes to creating!  Lets hope it returns real soon….

I also struggled with trying to make this photo work – I have used the flocked window sheet out of the Candlelight Christmas Specialty papers, and of course it reflected everything that was behind me…
The card didn’t really turn out how I had intended it and then I didn’t know what to do with it, so I hope you will find some inspiration in the fact that I am human and have my “off” days too  🙂  I would love to see what you can do with this challenge, so please share with us at Dynamic Duos, and while you are there, check out the gorgeous work from the rest of the Design Team.

Happy Stamping!

Dynamic Duos #35

Gorgeous colours again this week for the Dynamic Duos challenge, and here is the third card in my Bordering on Romance set that I shared in my previous post.

I have used mostly So Saffron with just a hint of Certainly Celery on the leaves.

The sprays of flowers have been cut out by hand and then lifted off the card with dimensional tape.  And this time, instead of lots of faux stitching, I have just done lots of paper piercing 🙂 it does create a completely different effect.  The greeting is from the Perfectly Penned stamp set.

Lots of inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, which you can see here.
Hope you are having a crafty and productive weekend.  I know I am! 🙂
Happy stamping!

Melon Mambo and Island Indigo…

….sounds kind of exotic, doesn’t it?  I really like the names that Stampin’ Up! use for their colours, and I like the combination of colours for this week’s Dynamic Duos challenge too!

DD# 34

I had too many ideas for this combination, so in the end I decided to keep it simple.

I have used the flower from Button Buddies stamp set and fussy cut them to create the layers of different colours.  The greeting is from Wacky Wishes and I have used the zig zaggy background was created using the Chevron Embossing folder through the Big Shot.

Lots of inspiration from the rest of the Design Team again this week, so make sure you have a look here, and lets see what gorgeous designs you can come up with using these colours.
Have fun with it, and happy Stamping!

Dynamic Duos #33

So my second challenge card for today, and I have made a card inspired by my lovely and very talented friend Deb Fearns.  Deb recently showed me a gorgeous little box that she had made using the Natural Composition Specialty papers, and it inspired me to find the papers and use them in this card.

This week’s Dynamic Duos challenge is to use the colours Black and Gold and also a music theme.

100_8249

So I have used the music notes from the Natural Composition Specialty papers, which I have applied black ink directly to, and then just rubbed it over with a tissue to get rid of the excess ink.  With the gold coloured foil (non-Stampin’ Up!) behind, it makes the music look gold as well.
Once again I have used the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and have hand cut around the ornament once it was embossed with gold powder.  I then die cut the Very Vanilla ornament so that I could layer one over the other.  And the greeting is from the Joyous Celebrations stamp set.

Make sure you check out the rest of the gorgeous projects from the very talented Design Team here.

Well, that’s all from me for now.  If I don’t have a chance to post more before Christmas, I hope you all have a wonderful, safe and happy Christmas.
Happy Stamping!

Dynamic Duos #32

Some nice, pretty girly colours today, so I made a nice, pretty girly card! 🙂
I have used a layout for this card that I found, well, some where on the internet when I was blog hopping… anyway, I thought it would work well with some swirls and flowers and here is the end result….

The stamp sets I have used are Field Flowers, Perfectly Penned and Elements of Style, along with some pink Seam Binding Ribbon (Non Stampin’ Up!) and white Baker’s Twine and a button.
This is a very pretty colour combination, and could work well for Christmas if you are busy making Christmas cards.  So feel free to join us this week, and you can check out what the rest of the Design Team have come up with here.
Have a crafty weekend.  Happy Stamping!
Chris

Dynamic Duos #30

I love this combination, it’s very classy and elegant.

I hope you will forgive the short post again, unpacking and organising calls, and if I don’t unpack I can’t stamp! 🙂
Make sure you check out the what the rest of the design time have done with these gorgeous colours.

Happy Stamping!
