This month’s theme at The Male Room Craft Challenge is “For a Teenager”,
and it just so happens that yesterday was my son’s 16th Birthday, so I am sharing the card I made him for his birthday.
Unlike a lot of boys his age, my son is not into any gaming – none, at all. In fact, he goes months at a time without turning his computer on, and his phone usually stays on his desk day and night, with barely a glance. I am grateful that he has a lot of things that keep him interested and engaged and generally outside in the fresh air and sunshine. One of those things, that he is particularly passionate about, is sailing.
So naturally, the card I made for his birthday, features sailing boats!
The card is an interesting fancy fold card, with the front panel a clear window sheet which hinges to the back panel with the small top section.
The inside part, pictured above, opens sideways like a normal card, so that there is space to write a message.
My card features the new Gentle Waves background stamp, from the new Mini Catalogue, which was of course, a must for me. I’m quite sure it will get a heap of use!! I have used the Sailing Home stamp set from the Annual Catalogue along with the matching dies, and the sentiment on the front comes from the Let’s Set Sail set, also from the new Mini Catalogue.
The original idea for this card comes from one that Kylie Bertucci made here. I have changed mine around (as I do!), but you can watch Kylie’s video that is linked to her blog and see how she went about making hers.
It’s not easy to take a photo of the entire card, so hopefully you get an idea of how it is made.
And I hope you will share some of your masculine projects for a Teenager this month at The Male Room Craft Challenges. You can also find The Male Room Craft Challenges on Facebook, so come over and join in the fun there.
Happy stamping!
Chris
