Sale-a-Bration Swap

Last night we had a get together with my upline, Larisa O’Donnell and the rest of her downline, to do some stamping together, some demo’s, and some swaps.  The theme for the swaps this time was Sale-a-Bration, we just had to use one of the Sale-a-Bration stamp sets in some way, and here is what I prepared as a swap.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge – # 18

This is the first time I have made a card for the Cinema Saturday challenge, but I thought it was a bit of fun, and would help me to create something a little different.  This weeks movie is Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, which I have to admit, is a movie I haven’t seen, but I have used an Asian influence to make my card and and then added some red threads.  Chinese Folklore says that there are invisible red threads that connect a new born child’s spirit to all the people who will be important in the child’s life.  As the child grows, the threads shorten, drawing closer those people who are destined to be together.  The threads are said to never break or fray, binding family and friends forever.

Stamp Sets: Mostly Flowers, Botanical Blooms.

Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red.

Inks: Versamark, Markers in Real Red, Only Orange and Yoyo Yellow

Accessories: Clear and Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Flower and Half Pearl from Pretties Kit, Red Thread from my personal stash!

Wallpaper Card!

I’m not sure why it is, but I have a real “thing” for some of the papers that look like old fashioned wallpaper.  Which is kind of odd considering that we are just in the process of stripping it off the walls of our new home, so that we can paint!  But I really do love just about all of the Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers, gorgeous colours and patterns, and I seem to find myself constantly drawn to them for both cards and scrap pages.

So today’s card uses… yep, you guessed it, one of those old fashioned wallpaper designs 🙂  The layout and colours in the card is inspired by a similar card made by one of my favourite stamp artists Lin Mei Yap

I have used one of four Limited Edition Stamp Sets available through the Sale-a-bration promotion at the moment, so if you like it and want one, please contact me to find out how you can get one.

Stamp Sets: Botanical Blooms, Three Thoughts

Cardstock: Soft Sky, Whisper White, Designer Series Paper Afternoon Tea.

Inks: Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, Cameo Coral, Old Olive.

Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Sponge, Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon.
