Dynamic Duos #33

So my second challenge card for today, and I have made a card inspired by my lovely and very talented friend Deb Fearns.  Deb recently showed me a gorgeous little box that she had made using the Natural Composition Specialty papers, and it inspired me to find the papers and use them in this card.

This week’s Dynamic Duos challenge is to use the colours Black and Gold and also a music theme.

So I have used the music notes from the Natural Composition Specialty papers, which I have applied black ink directly to, and then just rubbed it over with a tissue to get rid of the excess ink.  With the gold coloured foil (non-Stampin’ Up!) behind, it makes the music look gold as well.
Once again I have used the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and have hand cut around the ornament once it was embossed with gold powder.  I then die cut the Very Vanilla ornament so that I could layer one over the other.  And the greeting is from the Joyous Celebrations stamp set.

Make sure you check out the rest of the gorgeous projects from the very talented Design Team here.

Well, that’s all from me for now.  If I don’t have a chance to post more before Christmas, I hope you all have a wonderful, safe and happy Christmas.
Happy Stamping!

Purple and Silver

This week at Our Creative Corner it is my turn to set the challenge, and I have chosen a colour theme, using my favourite colour Purple, along with Silver, you can use other colours as well, just as long as purple and silver are the feature colours for your project.  Our Creative Corner will taking a break over Christmas and it is our last challenge before our break, so lets make it a Christmas project as well.

I have had fun with the Big Shot and embossing this week on my card.  I have used a stamp from the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set which I have heat embossed with silver powder onto Elegant Eggplant card stock and then cut out with the Holiday Ornaments Dies.  The silver layer is some of the gorgeous Glimmer paper cut using the Apothecary Accents Framelits, and for the white layer I have used the Adorning Accents Edgelits and the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  The greeting comes from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments Stamp Set and I have used a little bit of Pink Pirouette card stock for some interest and some non-Stampin’ Up! ribbon that I found in my stash!

Happy Stamping!

Stitching and Fabric

Our challenge this week at Our Creative Corner is to create a project which uses some stitching and fabric.  Stitching can be done on the sewing machine or faux stitching, and the fabric could be used in any part of the project, either as an embellishment, or as I have done, an entire panel.

Again, I am sewing machine-less… that is, without sewing machine…. so I had to use “faux stitching” on my card.  Faux stitching is one of my favourite’s, so it wasn’t a chore, actually I think I may have got a little carried away with it, what do you think?  That’s all faux stitching around the outside of the greeting and the lines along the top and bottom of “Season’s Greetings”, plus there is some around the red star, it’s just a bit hard to see in the photo.

I stuck with some traditional Christmas colours for this one, and have used a non Stampin’ Up! embossing folder which has been sitting unused for some time now.  The Christmas tree looks a bit lumpy in the photo, but I have just used some cotton wool behind it to make it puff out a little.

The Christmas Tree was cut out of the white panel of card stock using the Holiday Collection Framelits die, and the fabric is from the Orchard Harvest Designer Fabrics.  And the greeting is from the Welcome Christmas stamp set.

If you have any questions about how I made my card, please feel free to send me an email.  And you can see what the rest of the Design Team have made  for this challenge here. We do hope you will give this one a go and join in the fun, we love to see what you have created using our challenges.
Next week is my challenge, so make sure you come back to see what I have for you, and it is also our final challenge for the year, as we are taking a well earned break over Christmas.

Happy Stamping!

Dynamic Duos #30

I love this combination, it’s very classy and elegant.

I hope you will forgive the short post again, unpacking and organising calls, and if I don’t unpack I can’t stamp! 🙂
Make sure you check out the what the rest of the design time have done with these gorgeous colours.

Happy Stamping!

Dynamic Duos #29

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…. hmmm probably not at this time of year in Australia!
This week’s Dynamic Duos challenge is not just to use the colours, but also with the option of a Snowman Theme.

So I thought I would go with it, and use the cute little snowman from the Button Buddies stamp set, since he hasn’t had much use.  I have used markers to colour him and then popped the button over the top.

I hope you will excuse the short post this week, I am in the middle of travelling and moving from Adelaide to Canberra, so have scheduled this post ahead of time.
Happy stamping!

Foil and Alcohol Inks

Another fabulous challenge for Our Creative Corner this week from Sue at Scrumplescrunch:

The technique of dripping Alcohol Inks onto Foil has an amazing effect.
The item you make can be anything; a free standing decoration,  or an element to place onto your project, experiment and have some fun, it is getting close to the silly season, so why not let go and free all those inhibitions and let rip with some colour!
I decided not to do Christmas again this week, but did I have fun with the foil and alcohol inks!  Once I am unpacked after my move I will most certainly be playing with this one again 🙂  Thank Sue!
I have die cut the flowers out of a backed foil and then dripped the different colours of alcohol ink onto the foils, adding more colour once the first colour was dry, if I thought it needed more variation.
Here is a closer look at the flowers:
Well, I hope you are all getting lots of crafting time in.  I am looking forward to being able to unpack all my precious stamps and equipment and getting back into it.  But in the meantime, why don’t you check out all the creative and gorgeous inspiration from the very talented Design Team at Our Creative Corner.
Happy stamping!

Freshly Made Sketches #57

I have made a Christmas card for this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. I am really enjoying getting into the spirit of Christmas this year, I have done a lot of Christmas shopping already, so thought it would be good to get started on some Christmas cards too.

I have made quite a few of these ornaments, to go on some Candy Canes to hang on the Christmas tree, and as I was making them, I thought how nice they would look on a card, and here is the result.  I will show you the Candy Canes in another post.
The card uses the Candlelight Christmas Specialty Papers, and the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  And for the ornament I have used the Snow Flurry die, Real Red Glimmer Paper punched out with the scallop circle punch, and the greeting comes from the Mixed Medley hostess set.
Here is the sketch:

Clean and Simple Kitchen

No, I am not asking you to go clean up your kitchen, it is this week’s challenge theme at Our Creative Corner.  Meihsia’s challenge is to create a Clean and Simple card featuring something you would see in the kitchen.

I have used the coffee cup from the fantastic Scentsational Season stamp set (page 16 Holiday Catalogue), and while this is definitely meant to be a Christmas set, I didn’t want to make a Christmas card this time, so I punched out the For You sentiment from the Mixed Medley stamp set, one of the new Hostess Sets in the Holiday Catalogue, and layered that over the snowflake image.  The image is cut using the matching dies, which can be bought in a bundle with the stamp set.
The patterned paper is from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack, and also the woodgrain is from the Natural Composition Specialty papers.

So please join in this week, we always love to see what you come up with for our challenges.  The rest of the projects from the Design Team can be seen here.

Let’s Be Royal

Our Creative Corner challenge for this week is a royal theme, and I had a real struggle with this one!

The requirements are:
– Create a card or project with a royal look using a crown, castle or a princess.
– Use the photo to inspire you.
– Your project must have something yellow or gold embossed.

Well, I don’t have any castle or princess stamps and the only crown stamp I have looks more like a jester’s hat than a crown!
So, I did a google search on princess images and decided to do some paper piecing, not something that I have done much of before.  Actually, truthfully, I have never done anything like this before so it really was a challenge!

Personally, I think she looks a bit evil, or angry, what do you think?
I have used patterned paper from the Floral District paper pack, and the Delicate Designs Embossing Folders to create the lacy underskirts, along with lots of fussy cutting and faux stitching.
I am not all that happy with the final result, but I guess for a first attempt it’s ok.
There is plenty of wonderful inspiration for this challenge from the rest of the Design Team though, so make sure you check it out, and lets see what you come up with – we would love it if you would share your creations.
Well, that’s it for now, but I will be back with some more real soon.
Happy stamping!

Photo Inspiration Challenge

My turn to set the challenge again this week at Our Creative Corner, and I have chosen a photo to inspire you!

What I would like you to do is, create a project of your choice which:

1. Uses something from the photo that inspires you, it can be colours, shapes, anything at all.
2. Use 2 or more buttons on your project, they can be real buttons, fabric buttons, covered buttons, die cut buttons, any sort of buttons!
3. And, use polka dots somewhere.

And here is my card.

I have taken the colours from the photo and also the cake stand, as inspiration.

I have used the polka dot papers from the Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper packs in Soft Subtles, punched them out using the Blossom Punch and Boho Blossoms Punch, and then done some free-hand paper piercing around each one, and then markers to create the stitched look. (For those of you who are regular visitors to my blog or my classes, you will know that I love my faux stitching!!)
The “vase” is from A Cherry on Top stamp set, which is a cute new hostess set (Page 197 of the Annual Catalogue) and the leaves from Betsy’s Blossom have been stamped in Gumball Green and hand cut.  And just to make sure it was really “polka dotty” 🙂 I have used the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder for the white background.
Have a look at what the fabulous Design Team have created for this challenge, and I do hope you will be inspired to create something and share it with us.
For those of you on Facebook, we now have a new Our Creative Corner Facebook page, so why not drop in and give us a “like”.  🙂

Please feel free to email if you have any questions.
