If you are a follower of my blog, you will know how much I love a challenge… whether that’s a colour challenge or sketch challenge, or any other challenge for that matter! So I love it when I find a new challenge site, especially one which is being run by two very talented stampers, Bronwyn Eastley and Kathy Tanner. So of course, I just had to take part in the first challenge at Still AddINKtive which is both a sketch and colour challenge. Love it!
I have made a card for a friend whose birthday is later this week, and since she loves stitching, and I love doing it on my projects, I added lots of faux stitching!
My card uses the Betsy’s Blossoms stamp set and some patterned papers from Floral District Designer Series Papers. Add to that a greeting from the Itty Bitty Banners set and some pretty pearls, and that’s it! Quite simple really.
This is such a pretty colour combination, why don’t you give it a go?

Dear Chris, First of all CUTE CARD. I enjoy your challenges, but I’m not good enough to participate as yet. Really!
Question: Do you have a crafter’s sewing machine? I am looking for one that is tiny and simple just for cards. I like stitching also. I used to sew 40 some years ago…no machine now and don’t want anything fancy.

Hi Judy, Happy New Year to you also, and thank you for your comment. Great question….I don’t personally use a crafter’s sewing machine although I know some people do. I just use my dress making machine if I am going to do that type of stitching. I believe there are some small machines available, but I am not sure where you would get one from. If you are in Australia you might try Spotlight or Lincraft.
Most of my stitching is “Faux” stitching, done with a piercing tool and guide, and then a marker to draw in between the holes. It means that I can colour coordinate the stitching with papers or card stock. It’s time consuming at first, but once you get used to it, it’s pretty quick and easy to do and is a lovely finishing touch.
As for not being good enough to participate in the challenges, I say have a go! 🙂 just remember, we all had to start somewhere. Some of my first cards that I made were very average (cringe worthy, some of them), but I still shared some of them early on in my blogging. You can always keep it to yourself if you don’t want to share 🙂
Sorry I wasn’t more help about the sewing machine. Hope you find one. Maybe try eBay?
