Quick and Easy Male Cards

I wanted to add some more male cards to my stash and recently most of the cards I have been making have been multi layered and quite time consuming so thought it was time to create something quick and easy (otherwise known as QuEasy). Many people struggle when it comes to making cards for the men in our lives, and I think for me, that is either because I try to over complicate them, or because I always want to put ribbon on a card. So, here is a card for a man which has ribbon!!
Both cards use the Need for Speed stamp set. The blue card uses a retired DSP and the Blue Denim Jean Ribbon. The other card uses Frightful Sight DSP on Cajun Craze cardstock. Of course, you could do so much more with these, but sometimes keeping it simple works just as well.

Another Sketch Challenge

This sketch is from the lovely girls at Our Creative Corner.
I have used the gorgeous Attic Boutique DSP for this card, which I have cut out using the Framelits Label Collection Dies, and done some free-hand paper piercing around the edge. The layer behind that has been stamped using the Rues Des Fleurs stamp set and then has been embossed and sponged with Soft Suede ink. The flower is made using Poppy Parade cardstock, and has a little half-back pearl in the centre which is hard to see in the photo.
I had a lot of fun making this card, so I hope you like it too.

DinoRoar is one of those stamp sets that I just had to get and haven’t used yet…. silly really, since it is a great set especially if you have boys in your life, like I do.
I seem to be saying this a lot lately, but I am really not happy with how this card turned out, but it’s good for you to know that us demonstrators have our “off” days too!

This card is based on a sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary, which is a one I haven’t come across before. So you can check out all the great things on their site here. The sketch looks like this:

Gift Tags

I have recently been commissioned by a florist, to make some gift tags. These are some of the ones she wasn’t interested in but I thought I would share them with you anyway. I have a few of these that were experiments until we found exactly what she was looking for. I will have these for sale at the Marion Indoor Markets tomorrow, along with lots of goodies for Mother’s Day.
Not sure about you but I absolutely adore these little die cut butterflies! They get used for a whole heap of things around our house, in particular some of my son’s craft activities!

Yellow

Yellow is one of those colours that I just don’t use very much, so this week’s colour challenge from Our Creative Corner wasn’t one of my favourites. But thought I would give it a go anyway. The colours are yellow, Kraft and White, so I have used Daffodil Delight which is probably my least used of all the colours. But I will admit that I quite like it in the combination used in our new DSP called Attic Boutique, which is the one I have used here.
I have also used the stamp set Field Flowers, and lots of paper piercing and “Faux stitching”. Now that I have my sewing machine up and organised I might start doing some real stitching on my cards!!
It is probably difficult to see in the photo, but I have also used some Crystal Effects on the main flower to give a bit more depth and shine.

Button Buddies Class

Ok, I fully admit that this is shameless CASE of a card set made by the fabulous Mary Fish. But they are just so cute that I couldn’t help myself.

Class dates are:

Thursday 5th July at 10.30am and 7.30pm, and Saturday 7th July at 2pm.

Not only will we make these six cards but we will also make a mini pizza box to put them in with their envelopes.
Make sure you book in for this class soon, as it’s sure to be popular and places are limited.

Big Shot Lavender Bags

These lavender bags took less than five minutes to whip up, thanks to my Big Shot and the Scallop Squares Duo die. They are so quick and easy, just run two layers of the material through the Big Shot, sew around three edges, add some wadding and a teaspoon of lavender and stitch up the remaining side. I have added some ribbon so that they can be hung in the wardrobe, or pop one inside your sock drawer!
The fabric is from Stampin’ Up! and is part of the Twitterpated range in the Autumn / Winter Catalogue.

I have used my sewing machine for these, but they could just as easily be hand stitched.
I have made quite a few of these this afternoon, some of them using up some retired fabric. I will have some of them for sale at the Marion Indoor Markets next Sunday (Mother’s Day!!) , so if you live in Adelaide, come and say hi

Freshly Made Sketch #33

Rich Razzleberry is my absolute favourite of all the Stampin’ Up! colours but it has been a little neglected of late, so I decided it was time to make up for that!! The card is based on this week’s Freshly Made Sketch challenges, and uses Simply Soft stamp set (hostess set) which I have stamped with Stazon and then water coloured using a blender pen. The DSP I have used is another much neglected one, called Pocketful of Posies. I have dragged out the very last (sob…) of my precious Rich Razzleberry satin ribbon (retired) and matching button. The greeting comes from Field Flowers stamp set and I have popped some half back pearls on either side for a little added bling. I thought I would put this card in for the latest Just Add Ink challenge as well, which is to create something for Mother’s Day. As many of you would know, my beloved Mum passed away just over two years ago, so I can’t send this card to her, but I know she would love it if she were still here. She is the person who encouraged me to be creative and enjoy my crafts, so this one is for you Mum. xx.
I like this particular sketch, so just had to make a second card! This one is in a completely different style, with lovely bright, cheery colours. It uses the gorgeous Sweet Shop DSP from the Autumn / Winter catalogue along with Sweet Cake stamp set. Just loving these colours too, Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder. I have stamped the image onto Shimmer White card stock which has given it that really lovely motley sort of look (not sure how to explain that one! but I like how it turn out ) Oh, and don’t forget that cute brad, also available from the Autumn / Winter catalogue. Mixed Bunch Class

Come along and make these four cards, featuring the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set, Teeny Tiny Sentiments Stamp Set and using the “stamping off” technique.

This class is definitely suitable for complete beginners or for experienced stampers. Places are limited and bookings are essential.

Dates: Thursday 7th June 2012 at 10.30am or 7.30pm. I may also run this class at 2.00pm on Saturday 9th June if there is enough interest (keeping in mind that it is a long weekend).

Cost: $18, includes everything to make your cards plus envelopes, tea and coffee. There will also be lucky door prizes and all orders over $50 placed at the class will not pay shipping costs.
